COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Quetsche Tilquin à l’ancienne (6.4% alc / vol) is a spontaneous fermentation beer obtained from the fermentation of destoned fresh purple plums (Quetsche véritable d’Alsace, close to the Damson) in a blend of 1 and 2 years old lambics for a period of 4 months. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, it is re-fermented in the bottle for a minimum period of 3 months. The lambics used were fermented and matured in our own oak barrels at the blendery. They are made from worts brewed by Boon, Lindemans, Girardin and Cantillon. The taste is slightly tart but also fruity and round which makes this Quetsche à l’ancienne may be more accessible for non-experts or less sophisticated palates. It also has a slight dryness from the skin of the plums. The nose perceives a plum brandy perfume.

First batch (2012) with a BB date of 23/02/2022 was made with ’Prune de Namur’ and limited to 500 bottles.

Second batch (2013) limited to 5000 * 75cl and 10000 * 37,5cl was made with ’Quetsche véritable d’Alsace’.

Gooseberries, white currant, unriped grapes, plums and funky notes in aroma. Pours golden with white head. Taste is dry, very fruity with flavours similar to those fruits from nose. Some funky notes as well, no vinegar. Finish is tart, average to lively carbonation. Overall excellent stuff, delicious, complex and refreshing.

Aromat: cierpki, dużo tanin, bogaty, owocowy. Limonki, agrest, białe porzeczki, zielone i kwaśne winogrona. Sporo stajennych klimatów i sporo zbóż. Zapach świetny. Wygląd: intensywnie złote, wpadające w bursztyn, półprzejrzyste, piana mała, biała i zaraz zanika. Smak: świetnie owocowo cierpkie, ale nie octowe, mnóstwo świeżych, soczystych i kwaśnych owoców, limonka, agrest, biała porzeczka, kwaśne, białe winogrona, tarnina, aronia, skórzane nuty, stajenne klimaty wyraźne ale delikatne. Pestkowa goryczka całkiem wyraźna, świeża owocowa słodycz lekka ale świetna. W sumie to czuje wszystko oprócz śliwek, no chyba ze takie niedojrzałe mirabelki. Takie niedojrzałe węgierki wychodzą dopiero w posmakach Odczucie: nawet dużo ciała, średnie wysycenie, finisz pestkowy, gorzkawo cierpki, lekkie w odbiorze, alkoholu nie czuć. Całość: świetne piwo, pyszne, świetna kompozycja i balans, nieprzesadzone stajenne i skórzane nuty, bogactwo w smaku i aromacie, pijalne, ciekawe, bardzo smaczne. 8/4/8/4/17

Zeer astringent. M: Doordrinker met lichte carbonatie.

Pours with standard lambic color. Aroma: leather notes, village, very fine, intensive, some very delicate notes of plums too. Taste: very sour and a bit tarty finish. Nice. Plums undetectable:(

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Beer in the glass orange-golden, small head. Sourish-fruity aroma. Starts intense sourish, notes of some fruity, apple, pear, apricot. Mild sweetish hints. Finish well balanced sourish. Nice.

Bottle at the 11th Brugge beer Festival, Brugge, Belgium. A hazy amber/red coloured pour with a thin white head that vanishes very quickly. Aroma is funk, tart berries, wine. Tastes quite tart, berry fruit, sour, slightly mouth puckering acidity. Not really my style but this was well made and I reckon it would be great on a hot day rather than a freezing cold day in northern Europe.
