COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Gueuze is an appellation controlee : its label is protected. It is also known as the champagne of beers, especially as it is only available as a limited edition. Timmermans Oude Gueuze’s special flavour derives from its time-honoured method of preparation. It is a blend of old lambic, which has been aged for three years in wooden barrels, and young lambic which ensures spontaneous fermentation in the bottle. The different lambics are carefully selected by the brewer to obtain a perfect flavour. After it has been produced, Timmermans Oude Gueuze, which is refermented for four months in the bottle, continues to improve for 20 years.

This is one of the tamest lambics I’ve had. The strength of this beer is that it’s refreshing and easy to drink. The weakness is that it isn’t very complex or interesting. It does have lambic character, however, with plenty of sour grapefruit and some pine needles and barnyard funk. It’s just not as wild as the really good lambics.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of brett, fruits, and wood. The flavor is acidic with notes of brett, lemons, and straw, leading to a tart finish.

Sample from 75 cl bottle. Hazy, golden colour with a few white bubbles on top. Tart, fruity aroma with lemons, wheat malts, oaked notes, barnyard, yeasts and apples. Taste is sour. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes tart fruity with lemons and oaked notes. Excellent Geuze.

[email protected] - Golden pour with small white head. Tart fruity with notes of orchard fruit, light apricot, horse blanket, funky and bretty accents, massaging carbonation, medium body, tart fruity into the close. Very nice.

Bottle at home. Brewed 2013, bottled 2016. Clear golden with white head. Gunpowder and metallic notes on the nose. Sour grains, wet hay and horseblanket. Moderate sour. Medium body and a little happy fizzy sparkle going on. Nice, decent classic gueuze. Goes very very well with this tasty juicy dried sausage that I’m having next to it.

2013er bottle, 37.5cl. Nice intense sour nose of horse blanket. The beer starts extreme sourish, nice fruity sourness with lots of funk and horse blanket. Peaches, yellow grapes. Lots of fruity acidity, intense and very deep. Wood there, sour fruit, fantastic long sourish deep aftertaste. Great stuff!

Bottle from Chevy Chase Wine and Spirits. TIMMAY!!! Hazy good with some floaties and an uninspired head. Aroma is sour green apple, funk, butter. Sour flavor, acetic, unripe apple and stone fruit. Medium body, biting, average carbonation. Fine, but weak for the style.

Ma première oude gueuse, plutôt sympa avec son originalité. Un gout citronné et un peu acide, pas amère.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2017 Uklar gul i glasset. Dufter af klassisk gueuze - måske lidt cider. Halvtør til tør, god syre.
