COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Gueuze is an appellation controlee : its label is protected. It is also known as the champagne of beers, especially as it is only available as a limited edition. Timmermans Oude Gueuzes special flavour derives from its time-honoured method of preparation. It is a blend of old lambic, which has been aged for three years in wooden barrels, and young lambic which ensures spontaneous fermentation in the bottle. The different lambics are carefully selected by the brewer to obtain a perfect flavour. After it has been produced, Timmermans Oude Gueuze, which is refermented for four months in the bottle, continues to improve for 20 years.

Bottle as shown. Pours a hazey yellow with large frothy white head that lasts awhile. The aroma is citrus and tons of funk. Thin mouthfeel with a crisp tartness and lemon with nice sourness in the finish. Easy to drink lots of carbonation, a very impressive gueuze from Timmermans.

Lots of sour grapefruit and some cracker like soup leftovers. Orange pour with decent head and lacing. Tangy finish, pretty acidic. Bottle.

This gueuze was way to acidic to my taste. I had to take a Samarin. Not at all good in my opinion. Nothing to add balance to the acidity.

Press slightly hazy golden with an off white head. The aroma has bugs, light sourness, acidity and some vinegar. It has a crisp body with prickly carbonation. The taste has saltiness mixed in, rustic slant and more sweetness than typical for the style. Good.

Paardenpis en goudsbloem in de neus. In de smaak een fijne cider, de lambiek zuren, weinig hout en een verfijnde nasmaak.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Hazy straw coloured with no head. It has a very sharp apple and lemon flavour with more powerful sour apple on the extremely dry tart finish. Good.
