This beer has instant appeal thanks to the hue of its ancestral garb and its fruity aroma which is so pleasant to the nose. Its flavour – bitter but with a very slight sweetness – recalls how pleasant it is to drink a beer that’s saturated in history. Timmermans Tradition Kriek Retro is to be savoured in the same way that one beholds a painting by Breughel.

Bottle. Dark gold pour with white head. Aroma is cherry, light gastric notes, definitely some of that sharp lemony-ness of Timmermans Lambic. Taste is sour, nice fruity cherry but light, much less fruity than the common kriek, very dry and sour finish. Palate is well carbed and light medium bodied. Quite Ok actually.

375 c&c from Bu11zeye. Pours clear ruddy copper with no head. Aroma is very tart cherry. Med body or nearly. Tart enough to cause a shudder upon it hitting my mouth. But then some "sugar" came out. The next quaff was tart enough to cause a shudder. Involuntary, understand. It’s still possible to get some "sugar", but it is quite tart overall. I think it’s quite underrated. Nice, tart, kriek.

Bottle 375 ml, corked and caged, poured into a tulip glass at home. ABV 5% Lighr red to amber colour on the body, with a small off-white head on top. Low retention and light lacing left on the glass. Nice and refreshing aroma of cherries, along with sugar, light yeast. Taste is lightly sour, again lots of cherries, some sugar on the finish. Aftertaste is also sour but it has a short duration. Medium thin body, low carbonation. A little bit tart on the palate. Overall an easy lambic, goes down smoothly but it’s not something extra-ordinary. Honest, though.

Pours a ruby/amber colour with tiny white/pinkish head. Aroma of sour cherry, sugary. Taste is sour but there is also a lot of sweetness. Medium carbonation. I am not a fan of Kriek beers, but I found this surprisingly drinkable. So, I guess this is a decent example of the style (which always gives me a slight belly-ache for some reason).

[email protected], sthlm. Reddish rusty/brick filtered. Old musty cherries, quite a lot of old, sweaty tones. Medum full body, soft and nice. Subtle acidity, enough to leave a cleansed palate. Overall a very musty soft kriek. Feels old.

Bottle: Clear, ruby-amber coloured, small pinkish head, cherries and grains in the mouldy-sourish nose; moderate sweet-sour flavour, pretty light bodied; light to moderate sourish-sweet finish, surprisingly with cherries and a lingering tartness in the aftertaste. Quite O.K., even though not overly convincing…

Doft: Danskt körsbärs vin, gelehallon, farmors rabarber saft. Smak: Körsbär, danskt körsbärs vin, hallon soda, körsbärs godis. För söt i doft och smak.
