3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 22, 2015 Dark-gold beer with a thick, frothy head. Light aroma of caramel and toasty malt. Flavour is an initial tangy-sweet hit. Quite dry and bitter in the finish, with a real nuttiness to it. Nutty beers are not generally my cup of tea but with this being quite crisp and fresh initially but leaving a nuttiness on the tongue it works well.
Co op as a 3/ £5 is a lovely beer for the price cannot moan soon hit the spot and drank straight down

500ml bottle. Pours copper/amber with a creamy off white head. Light carbonation. Nose is biscuit, bread, toffee, banana, dried fruits, grapefruit and orange peel. Light and very smooth mouth feel, touch buttery and oily feel too. Taste is toffee malt, buttered brown bread, Christmas dried fruits and a hoppy citrus rind finish. Dry and lasting bitterness. Much better than I thought, pleasantly surprised by this as I’ve walked past it for years !! luttonm (6484) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 17, 2017
Bottle in London. From Tesco Express. Lacing thin soap foam, gray head. Pale brown orange. Sip is pale and cardboard. Light sweetness, some orange zest but it’s fairly bland and pale overall. Dull. Fair bitter, but boring.

500 ml. industrial coded date stamp looks like it was bottled sometime in 2016. Pours a mostly clear orange-amber with a lasting film of cream. Aroma of toffee, toasted walnut, earthy/leafy hops and hints of apples and orange. Flavors of earthy bread, caramel and toasted nut, with some bitterish wooden hops in the finish. Bottle 500ml. Clear copper with a thin but rather fluffy white head. Malty aroma, dry taste of biscuits. Increasing temperature adds pears and some sweetness. Pleasantly drinkable Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - JUN 4, 2017
Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a burnt orange/copper color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that slid off fairly quick. Stringy soapy lace.
The aroma had some estery sweet floral hops over top of buttered biscuits, somewhat cracker-like/touch of herbal.
The flavor was moderately sweet pulling the malts in front to even the keel of the overall taste surrounding the hops. Aftertaste was quaint, somewhat malty, buttery and soapy. Finish was quick and malty.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt low but expected. ABV felt good.
Overall, pretty good bitter with the diacetyl controlled enough to not be distracting. Probably be a good one for Americans to give a shit before delving into the world of Bitters.
