Life in Czarist Russia was not nessarily easy and simple for everyone - but the great taste of beer was available to all! Originally brewed to quench the thirst of Peter the Great (Czar Peter I), Tinkov Russian Lager has been served to both royalty and the common worker alike.

Pours a well frothed white head, light golden color. Quite clear. Aroma of yeast and grass..and hay...and more hay. Dusty like and old barn. Rather dry, hint of hops, reminescent, but not close to Saaz. Better than American majors.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2005 Typical international lager - a touch fizzy with perhaps a slight metallic note. There’s nothing partularly Russian about it, IMHO. Rerate: God, this is metallic as hell! And really herbal.

Golden yellow, light white head. Maple syrup and skunk nose. Sweet lager taste, but not much more.

12 oz bottle: Dark straw w/ a thin, short lived white head. Sharp grainy malt w/a light floral hop aroma. Malt becomes softer & bready as it warms. Clean. Well balanced w/ a flavor dominated by grainy malt throughout. Very little hop presence in the flavor other than to balance. Sweet up front, and crisp and semi sweet in the finish w/ hints of sulphury yeast. Aftertaste is clean malt. Medium higher carbonation, smooth, and light bodied with a creamy texture. Surprisingly good! I was not expecting much from this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. A fairly straight forward lager that is very drinkable and does have some flavor

cloudy golden yellow color with a generous white foamy head. Grassy, slightly floral aroma. Mildly skunky aroma and taste. Sweet malt flavor and a oily mouthfeel kind of ruined this one for me.

DocLock (11048) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 26, 2005
Got this from a Georgia colleague. Hazy gold pour with big citrus aroma and many citrus elements in the taste, including lemon, grapefruit, orange, and subdued hops. Smooth finish. Not bad.

Light and enjoyable. Good on a hot day. Every beer has its place. I would put this in the same category as a Dos Equis or Corona.

richlikebeer (839) - Easton, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 4, 2005
a sweet citrusy aroma, lots of hops, orange, grapefruit, and just a little bit of malts. the pour was a cloudy yellow, marking the first time i can recall an unfiltered pale lager. the flavor was pleasantly surprising, as the tastes were mirrored from the aroma. i thought this was a real nice brew, much tastier than anything from this class of beers that is made in the U.S.

Tastes darker than it is. Reminds me of aged beers. Not similar to pilsners, (at least the Czech kind), which the bottle claims it to be. Somewhat citrusy, but overall disappointing.
