Nice straw color, small head that faded fast.Malty light caramelish aroma with a sweet side and cereal like quality. The taste was Malty and sweet with a slightly fruity side lightly hoped and clean finishing. There was a faint metallic taste at the very end but nothing to terrible. This was a much better brew then i was expecting,it still reminded me of some of the Macro's but over all it was quite decent and well worth trying again.

even a nice silk screened label could not save this beer. aroma of canned corn. color of urine. sweet and underwhelming on the palate. long adjunct finish.

Beautiful hazy orange with white lace. Made me think of a Belgian or a hefe; certainly not a pilsner. First thing I noticed in the nose was skunk. Taste was sweet, insufficiently malty, and very, very salty. Certainly the worst beer I have had in a long time. Not a pilsner, not a lager, not supposed to be a lambic, but reminds me of a friend's wheat beer where some of the bottles had a lambic fermentation. And where did all that salt come from?

Steib (613) - Queen Creek, Arizona, USA - SEP 4, 2003
Pours a nice white head. Golden color. Malty aroma. Semi-sweet flavor, slightly full-bodied. Not as smooth as other pilsners. Not bad though.

Boystout (1000) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - AUG 20, 2003
Russian label: Tinkoff Zolotoe (Golden), English: Tinkoff Lager. Alc. 4.8%. This was a very pleasant surprise, which reminded me of some of Nils Oscar's lagers. Clear pale golden color, medium thick head. Aroma is grainy, wheaty, a bit neutral. Taste is quite cereal an malty with light hoppiness in the end. Very nice and drinkable.

GreatStelle (363) - Chico, California, USA - AUG 3, 2003
not to shabby. It is very sweet. It does have an orange flavor to the finish. Very light and refreshing.

SDbruboy (1863) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 31, 2003
Bottle. Hazy golden color with a large white, foamy head which left good lacing - somewhat reminiscent of the appearance of a hefeweizen. Malty lager aroma, a little skunky at first sniff, then I no longer noticed it. Sweet malty flavor up front, with tangy, lemony hoppiness and a slightly astringent finish. Interesting flavor profile. Light to medium body but rather lacking in carbonation.

Volgon (2761) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 8, 2003
This is too sweet for a pilsener, but overall it is better than most American megabrews. Not a trace of skunk.

Being a Russian Studies major in college has really prepared me for this beer. sad to see so much English on the bottle, but hey. no one would buy it in the US if it was written solely in Russian. Bought it in San Francisco while on vacation. Pretty good overall. Somewhat sweet with a malty taste.

Yeah, so this was in my fridge for a while and it was in the "bottles that must be shared with andrew196" file. So I bring it to a family get-together and we just didn't get around to it. We weren't looking forward to drinking it - I mean, all pilseners from countrys not known for beer suck, right? But when we finally tried it, I was pleasantly surprised. Nothing adjunctive, skunky, or otherwise offensive was in the taste. I got light butter, and maybe some sunflower seeds in the flavor. Not bad at all.
