COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This collaboration with Kyoto Brewing Co. in Japan is dark. Like, scorched by two fire-breathing dragons dark. Y ddraig goch and Nihon no ryū choose Belgium as their battleground, with a Belgian yeast providing a bit of spice to the beer. Fig provides a mellow sweetness and Halen Môn Sea Salt rounds of this epic meeting of two island nations.

Bawelt (874) - Lyon, FRANCE - AUG 13, 2016

Tap at CBM Terrace. Light roasted malt and coffee nose with some fig and prune notes. Easy drinking and roasty on the palate. Very stout or porter-like to be honest. Light bodied with some sour fruit notes on the finish. Simple but OK.

Tap at Jimbocho Terrace. Nice. Smooth, feels much more like a stout than a dubbel. Milky, chocolate, thick and creamy. Maybe a hint of something Belgian In the aroma and a touch of yeastiness later on as it warms. In fact the further down the glass, the more Belgian. Dark fruit and increasingly malty. Good stuff.

Psytron (2529) - Turku, FINLAND - APR 15, 2016
Smell of roasted malt, chocolaye. Dark brown colour, brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, mostly all is dampened by varbon. Wild carbon, creamy palate. Half bitter.

biirusaikou (2705) - - APR 14, 2016
Draught at KBC. Toffee, cake, plum, orange zest, notes of nuts and tobacco, fairly dry finish. Totally different to the Kyoto one, quite enjoyed it though it felt more hybrid than Belgian.

Tiny Rebel Dubbel Dragon

A deep black with a beige head and a lovely soft chocolate aroma. Savory, soy, bitter chocolate fudge. I find this more malt forward than the Kyoto version with some saying the hops probably dropped out in transit which is quite possible as I only picked up on a tiny bit of orange notes.. I liked it.

KyotoLefty (10726) - Kyoto, JAPAN - APR 10, 2016
Tap at Kyoto Brewing Taproom. Black with a lacy head. Belgian yeast in the nose, spicy, licorice, black malt, coffee. Flavor shows more chocolate, some berries, spicy, tingly, peppery hops, and a bit of fig.
