Bottle. Dark Reddish Amber. Roasty malts, dark chocolate, caramel, some coffee. Sour tasting, dry and rather bitter. Dry bitter finish. Disappointing. (2008)

A dark brown coloured beer with reddish tints and a weak mocha coloured head. A roasted malt aroma, smokey, coffee, nutty and burnt sugar. A dry mouthfeel. A dry roasted malt flavour, again smokey, nutty and burnt sugar, but there is hint of bitter hop in the background to give a nicely balanced finish.
Tasted at the 3rd. Fakenham Beer Festival.

Cask - Kings Head, Norwich. An initially medium & bubbly though lasting as a small & creamy light brown head atop a dark, ruddy brown body. Roasted malt, dry coffee & smoke aromas, some dark fruit. A dry & moderately salty roastiness dominates. Finishes in the same vein with a lingering smokiness. Soft, light to medium body with a relatively lingering finish. A decent mild & top notch condition, as always. DruncanVeasey (8260) - Nr NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - NOV 3, 2009
Bottle at The Penguin Beer Bobbing/13 Beers of Halloween tasting. Deep mahogany with a beige rim. Sweet plummy yeast in the aroma joined by coal, cocoa and apple. Soft chocolate dustiness, silk, hazelnut and apple peel. Generous parting roast. One of the better beers of the evening. Ungstrup (38248) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - SEP 3, 2009
Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin rim of tan head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, as well as lighter notes of roasted malt, leading to a dry and roasted finish. The body is light. Thanks fonefan for sharing.

Good but a little watery. Not so mild and a little more like an stout. I liked it and drank it pleasantly. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - AUG 9, 2009

Cask, gravity at St Neots BF ’09 (’Booze on the Ouse’). Very dark brown. Ashy burnt aroma like an ashtray that had coffee spilt in it. Taste roughly ditto. Slight bitterness. This is okay if you like wet dog ends. fonefan (50701) - VestJylland, DENMARK - NOV 15, 2008
