Tap. Aroma of biscuit, caramel, bread, and squash. Pours amber in color, off-white head with great retention and ample lacing. Flavor - bread, caramel malts, toast, some ripe fruit, obvious notes of squash, low-medium bitterness, some spicy character. Tap at Tired Hands. Hazy reddish tea pour. Thick creamy off white head. Good lace. Toffee, malty, tea leaf nose. Moves to some heavier vegetal character/DMS maybe from the squash. A newbie beer drinker friend of mine said "vegetable" and "cooked broccoli" without me instigating anything. I would have to agree that there is some DMS stuff going on. Taste is tea, lightly tannic, mild bitterness, some dark chocolate. Palate is clean and bitter. Quite the lengthy woody and bitter finish. Lightly hazy brown color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of butterscotch, sweet potato, caramel malts, brown sugar, and a bit of nuttiness. Draft at THBC. Pours an opaque chestnut brown color with some that that fades. nose is bready, starchy notes and sweet aldehydes. first sip is a beautiful balance of bready malt and juicy fruits. Pours a hazy amber with a medium tan head...nice color and lacing. Aroma has toasted graham and toffee notes. Flavor follows suit but adds more depth with touches of earthy bitterness and very subtle cinnamon (amazing because there is none in there!). UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Ruddy red-brown body. Solid off-white head. Streaks of lacing are left behind after each sip. Nose is quite aromatic with earthy squash/pumpkin, rich toffee, a little warmed caramel, nuts and biscuits. Flavor profile is less intense than the nose, the squash instead contributes some light semi-sweet notes. Classic esb notes of caramel, toffee, nuts and biscuits find a nice balance. Medium to light bodied, medium carbonation, clean finish, light bitterness at the very end. A delicate squash/pumpkin beer with an expressive nose and little of the cliche spice that makes me typically hate anything that has gourds in it.
