Dark maroon brown color. Aroma of subtle chocolate, subtle port. Taste is red wine, port, chocolate. Very nice.

Growler. Pours clear black with a medium, frothy light tan head, short retention with light. Aroma is light chocolate malt, cookie and biscuit malt with earthy hops, figs and dates with light oak notes. Flavor is light hops and bitterness, malty sweetness with dark fruity esters and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.

From Growler. Black color with a small sized off white head. Chocolate, some roast, woody, light earth, vinous and some lighter spice.

Growler thanks to MrChopin. Filled 15 hours before consumption, fridged one hour after filling. Pours a deep inky black with ruby highlights. Weaker, beige head. Nose has interesting roast, blueberry, dairy/cream, chocolate. Taste is very dry, bitter, roasty/ashy with cocoa powder, coffee, lemon bitters, berry juice, herbal, sage. Palate is tannic, bitter, coffee acid. Essentially sour coffee porter. Nice.

Draft at tired hands. Pours a black body with brown lacing. Aroma is sharp, tart dark fruit, sweet malty character, sour fruits and vinegar. Mouthfeel is silky with notes of tart dark cherries, wine, brown sugar, yeast and spice. Nice interesting saison.

Growler pour. Cheers to Crosamich for the sample. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny head. The aroma’s of pumpernickel bread. Grainy rye. Some coffee. A bit of umami. Light berry fruits. The tastee is cranberry and strawberry compote. Mildly tinny. Soft citric bite. A bit of farmhouse yeast. Medium body, soft carbonation. Overall, interesting, but a bit all over the place.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2013 Sample at the Brewpub. This one was just blended while I was there. Poured a dark purple color nearly black with not much head or lacing. Notes of rye, sour cheese, grapes, currant, acidic and spicy yeast. Mouthfeel is ultra silky on this saison. Medium bodied. I need to try this one again when it is finished and more carbonated. Cheers Re-rate, tried again in March 12, taste much better. moved up a couple notches
