An India Black Coffee Saison hopped with Simcoe. On draft at Tired Hands.
Pours dark brown, near black with a retentive khaki head. Flavor and aroma have a light roast and coffee bitterness that blend well with the house Saison yeast and slightly lactic, creamy body. Medium thick, dry finish, very light pine hop bitterness. A favorite from the opening, the restrained coffee and bitterness played nice with a maltier Saison. Pours dark brown with a medium dark tan head. Aroma of coffee and spice...light pine. Flavor is awesome!...coffee meets black pepper and great yeasty notes...some mild hoppy bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish has some light pine and coffee. Just awesome. RoyalFlushing (326) - Mamaroneck, New York, USA - JUN 10, 2012
On tap @ Tired Hands. Poured a dark cola brown with a sizable tan head and minimal lacing. Huge coffee aroma exudes from the glass followed by pine, spice mix, and roasted malt. Taste is roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate leading to saison yeast and spice before finishing with slight piney hop bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel and tons of flavor lingering to play with the palate. jcartamdg (3436) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Jet black with a thin white head. Aroma is roasty coffee, pepper and slight pine. Taste follows. Really coffee forward. Finishes ridiculously light and smooth.

Poured near black with a creamy tan head. My nose was immediately hit with strong roasted coffee along with hops and a trace of chocolate. Roasted malts, earthy hops, spicy yeast and coffee all balance very nicely. Light body considering how flavorful it is. Dry, roasty finish. One of my favorites during a long night of tasting. Growler courtesy of yourefragile. Served several times into a sampler glass. Pours near-black with a nice tan head and good lacing. Thin collar throughout. Nose has a really excellent combination of chocolate, roast, coffee, and piney hops. Really beautiful. Flavor adds together the same components with a slightly-heavier emphasis on the hops with the coffee coming underneath. A light earthiness to it as well, especially as it warms. Just a touch of fruit in the background. Medium body. Dry and somewhat-bitter. Very interesting concept and strong execution. This one did not hurt. Excellent work, Jean. craftycarl21 (2338) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 12, 2012
Growler, thanks yourefragile. Deep brown pour. Rich coffee, manure, spruce hoppiness on the nose and flavor. Good bite, dry roast, and a really interesting and delicious brew. Well done! callmemickey (4543) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 13, 2012
Rich brown-black body, Moderate sized khaki brown head. Streaky lacing. Nose erupts with coffee, roasted malts, earth, pine, pepper and a bit of grain. Flavor is similar with a nice balance between the dark roasted malts and the bitter, earthy, piney hop flavors. Reminds me very much of a hoppy Coffee Bender Pours. Medium bodied, appropriate carbonation, light bitterness. Very interesting. Drake (13737) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 20, 2012
Growler shared by yourefragile. Thanks! Pours a clear dark brown color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of rich coffee notes, bitter hops, floral citrus and earthy notes. The taste is coffee, bitter hops, smoke, chocolate and honey. Medium bodied. Nice beer.
