3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Dark brown-black body. Large fluffy pale tan head. Soapy lacing. Nose is earthy with pine and grapefruit notes as well as some cocoa powder. Flavor loses the citric notes and focuses on a piney chocolately roast porter profile. Medium bodied, dry moderately bitter finish and lively carbonation. A nice hoppy porter.
Review from notes.
A - Pours black as night with a small off white head leaving spotty trails of lace down the glass.
S - Smells quite hoppy with a bit of pine needles and light citric fruit. Some roasty flavors of coffee and chocolate help balance it all out. Very nice nose.
T - Very similar to the nose. The hops are dominant initially but they are eventually enveloped by the strong dark roasted core. Finish is a mix of the two flavors, clinging to the palate long after the finish.
M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Roasty feel with some nice lingering hop bitterness through the finish.
O - A very nice hoppy porter. The hops and roast worked very well together. One of the best beers I had all day if I remember correctly. mikem409 (2022) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - NOV 22, 2012

Big chocolate flavor, touch of roast, some toasty malts, light caramel, lots of resin and pine, fairly high bitterness. Medium body and carbonation.
