IPA soured for three days and then hopped with all Amarillo hops. A very strange and rewarding confluence of flavors...our juiciest beer yet!

On tap at the pub. Served in a champagne flute. Pours orangey-yellow. Tart nose with some floral notes. Moderate head and lacing. Mouthfeel was excellent, spot on for an IPA. Taste was not great. First sip got some IPA flavor, I can't even remember what. Very soon thereafter the tartness took over and dominated all flavors thereafter. All the flavor was just sweet-tarts. Meh, I'd avoid this particular beer. It seems to be an experiment that just didn't work out. Oh we'll, can't win 'em all. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Tired Hands 12/18/12, served in a tulip.

Pour: Dark hazy orange, with two fingers of off white, thick head. Leaves nice lacing and hangs around for a solid portion of the glass.

Smell: Tart cantaloupe, some grapefruit, and some oranges. Not very strong fruit notes, but they are definitely there. Some funks lingers in the background. A candy sweetness rises as well.

Taste: Follows the nose, but with a bigger caramel malt presence. All the same fruit flavors of cantaloupe, grapefruit, and oranges, but much more subdued. A lactic tartness, but is a reserved amount. Finishes tart and sweet.

Mouthfeel: Pretty drinkable, with a really nice velvety carb. Good tartness provides complexity, but isn’t puckering or cloying.

Overall: Nice, but a bit too much of a malt presence for its description of a sour IPA for me. Perhaps I just expected it to be more hop and tart forward than as balanced as it is.

Hazy golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of lacto, citrus, orange, light pine, and some floral happiness. Taste of grassy hops, orange, citrus, light pine, toffee, and a sour finish.

brystmar (1314) - Dallas, Texas, USA - DEC 22, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. A soured Single IPA, wtf? Smells like a hoppy Single IPA with lemony citrus remnants and hints of yeast in the background. Somehow the taste is pure lambic; citrusy and tart, finishing dry with hops massaging the palate at the end. Unquestionably unique -- a fine example of creative brewing by a blossoming craft brewery.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Amarillo cum berliner weiss. Big flavour, primarily orange. Well hopped.

Growler shared at Jays... Strange concotion but good... Smells like sour lemons with tropical fruits... Hazy orange in color... not much head. Intially your taste buds pick up the tartness, lots of acidity lemon followed by a really juicy tropical fruit hoppy taste but not really bitter. Some how these work/blend well together? Definetly juicy, really easy to drink. Medium to light body. Overall: Unique, but good. Glad I got a chance to try this.

Hazy orange with nice white head. Taste is sour lemon, not too much bitterness, floral, sourness hides IPA taste but you kind of find it in the background. This is a very special beer and I don’t think that Ive had anything like it. Aroma is sour, ovverripe fruits, malty, spicy, hay, floral, pine. A progressive brew that I enjoyed alot!

tcane7 (1674) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 5, 2012
Draft at Tired Hands. Pours a murky orange. Nose of citrus, lemon, grapefruit, lactic acid. Not too much hops coming through on the taste. Nice tartness, lemon, grapefruit with some solid hop bitterness. Funky copper seawater finish.

callmemickey (4561) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 2, 2012
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Not so sure about this one. Hazy orange body, moderate white head, soapy lacing. Nose is a muddled grapefruit-lemon-orange citric acidity. Not much else going on here as the flavor is a similarly juicy citric acidity. Where does the IPA portion come in? No clear bitterness here, but perhaps that’s a good thing given the potential to clash with the acidity? In the end its just a bit one note for me when you can get other sour beers with more depth and complexity (Tired Hands has proven they can do that already).

Damico (3150) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 2, 2012
Pours unclear orange amber with a small head. The aroma brings juicy citrus notes. Flavor brings tart notes with some citrus on a juicy somewhat thicker body lighter in carbonation.
