In short: A wicked wild & rustic Saison with tangerines and stuff… Refreshing and complex.Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 20, 2012
How: Tap at Hill Farmstead Farmhouse Saison Festival 2012.
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a medium white head.
In long: Nose is really super-rustic, truly farmhouse, musky, a bit of wood and nice fresh clementines. Body is full and fluffy with a lively smooth carbonation making for a very comfortable pillowy mouthfeel. Taste is has crisp crackery cereals, wheat sensation (not sure if any wheat is actually used), a nice wheat-like refreshing acidity, plenty of fresh clementines that are so well integrated with the beer that is almost feels like citrusy hops, some wood, nice wild yeast sensation adding a strong farmhouse character. Barrel aging is really not overdone (at least in this batch) and only add mild vinous tannic notes that gets lost in the wild yeast and fruit flavors. Finish is mildly bitter and rather dry. Refreshing and complex, a fantastic treat for the lovers of bastardised farmhouse Saisons. The kind of high-quality crazy wild Saison I would have expected from a Hill Farmstead, which ironically is where I had the Mysterious Mood. My wife loved that beer immensely too, like me she is a Saison Whore, although she prefers to be called a Saison Escort.
On tap at Tired Hands. Bretty funky tart nose with light grain and hop notes. Spicy, aromatic. Hazy pale golden with thin white head. Medium body with high carbonation. Starts juicy with nice hop flavor, pale malt character and light carbonic acidity. Well balanced with citrus notes. Light, effervescent, and refreshing. Big bright citric finish with champagne after. hopscotch (11101) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 29, 2012
Growler... Pours cloudy and golden with no head. The nose is fruity - clementines and grapeskins - with a nice touch of acidity. Light-bodied with lively carbonation. The fruity flavor boasts pale grains, light bitterness and mild acidity. Finishes crisp, snappy, and then dries on out. Cheers to jyoungsbcp for providing me the opportunity to finally sample something from this up-and-coming brewery! Huhzubendah (3705) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 26, 2012
Growler shared by dramuh. Thanks Matt.
The beer is hazy and straw yellow with an inch of white head. The aroma brings brett, tangy citrus, and some floral notes. The flavor offers brett and a touch of lemons. Very light in body. Thin feel leads to a refreshing, thirst quenching beer. Good stuff.

Pours golden juicy orange mostly unclear in color with a smaller white head. The aroma brings sweet saison notes and a bit of Brett tanginess as well. The flavor of Brett yeast is dominant on a great medium body saison, endong with the yeast as well as refreshing citrus notes from the clementines. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - AUG 16, 2012
Thanks to yourefragile for sharing the growler. Served jn Tired Hands stemware. Pours a slightly hazy light peach color. Nice citrus in the nose. Heavy orange with some Brett funk and tropical notes behind that. Flavor is similar. Dry with light oak. Excellent.

Draft at Hill Farmstead Festival of Farmhouse Ales. Hazy white peach colored pour with a solid frothy head. Nose and flavor hold really lovely orange and clementine zest, grainy wheat, touches of sauvignon blanc melon character, and bits of brett and tannic dryness. Really nice, but a bit thin in the middle that really detracted from the overall beer. Still delightful, but not quite to the level of the host.
