32oz growler shared by JohnGonk! Thanks brother! 100th black IPA rate! Pour is black with a small foamy light tan head. Aroma of black malts, sweet citrus, burnt pineapple, and hints of chocolate. Taste pretty much mimics the nose, with some notes of lemon zest, and lots of sweet citrus fruitiness. egajdzis (6672) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 22, 2015
Dark brown with a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of toast, some roast, dark fruit, citrus, and pine. Taste of citrus, pine, resin, tobacco, roast, and grapefruit finish. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - MAR 18, 2015
Draft. Black pour with tan head. Herbal grassy and citrus hop aromas some darker undertones. Mostly hop forward, grassy and light citrus, with dark malt and light roasted and chocolate tones. dmac (6387) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - FEB 6, 2013
Draft at the brewpub after the Hand Farm release. Poured a very nice looking blac body with a smaller foamy beige head. Aroma of dark roasted ctirus fruits, dark toasted brown bread, light chocolate notes, fresh hop cones. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a chalky finish that slides into a long lingering bitter aftertaste. Flavor is the same as the aroma, notes of dark roasted/burnt citrus fruits, dark brown toast, earth, and cheap chocolate. Great stuff. zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 5, 2013
growler shared at Daddy’s tasting - wow this black IPA could pass for a regular IPA if I was blindfolded. Really smooth floral and bright ipa. Hardly even taste the roasted malts. Citrusy and bright, smooth, clean, lip-smacking finish.

Tap at tired Hands. The aroma is floral, dark fruits. Taste is hoppy, roasty, some dark fruits/figs. No heavy chocolate and little roast differing from a stout. This was an IPA straight up that happened to be dark. Delicately toes the line between IPA and stout. Just a wonderfully balanced and nuanced beer unlike it’s ultra aggressive brother Zombie. jredmond (8441) - New York, New York, USA - JAN 30, 2013
Growler courtesy of Vinny. Awesome aroma of the fantastic duet - Amarillo and simcoe. Super fresh pine, citrus and resin. Mouthfeel is super fresh pine hop and citrus. Straightforward, but NAILS it home. Cheers Jean. PhillyCraft (7582) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 24, 2013
On tap at TH, pours a murky plum borwn color with medium and creamy off white head. Aromas of piney hops, nutty malts, and light cocoa. Taste is a knockout...juicy hops, pine resin, warm cheddar, roasty malt, and bitter cocoa. Medium in body. Really enjoying this brew...Top notch black ipa. craftycarl21 (2338) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 23, 2013
Growler thanks to GT2!! Rich black pour, beige head. Nose and flavor bring amazing dank spruce and pine character from the Simcoe, loam and earth, and big citric character from the Amarillo as well. Definitely some roasty bitterness to complement the aggressive hop profile. Smooth and delightfully quaffable for a beer with such gigantic flavor. Delicious.
