3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Tired Hands release. Poured black witha finger of fine foam. Slight red wine dry aroma. Not the smoothest but decent wine choco bitter taste. Decent since I dont like red wine.
(Tap sample @ CBC 2016 Blue Session) My notes say this was a spontaneous/open ferment, which helps to explain why it seems like a sour stout. Black pour with basically no head. Aroma is not that punchy, caramel, oak, dark fruit, acidic bite, lightly funky. Flavour is quite sour, lots of dark berry and purple plum notes, a bunch of red wine, low roast, very smoothed out, some toffee malt notes in the background for support, maybe a touch of unsweetened chocolate in there. Finish is tart, off-dry, a little roast, mostly dark fruit and oaky red wine with tannins. Medium bodied, maybe a little watery for style, very low carbonation, a little alcohol. Interesting, pretty good in the realm of sour stouts, which can be a very difficult thing to pull off. bytemesis (9191) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JUL 14, 2017
Bottle. Pours clear black, medium fizzy beige head dissipates leaving pretty nice residual and good lacing. Aroma is vinous alright, a bit funky and acetic, roasty and dusty. Flavor is sharp, light sweet, acetic but not necessarily tart, vinous and oaky, dusty again, roasted malts, red grapes, nail polish remover. Medium body. I won’t use the word, but there is a medical term that can be used to describe this beer. gephross100 (943) - Bellaire, Texas, USA - MAY 7, 2017

(Blue Session). Black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is ripe fruits, some raisins, roasted malts, toffee and some slight ashes. Flavour is sour wood, liquorice, herbal and some ripe fruits and raisins to it. Also some warming alcohol can be felt.
Black with a fine poring yellow-beige head, good lacings. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, red wine, dark berries and some light notes of wood develops. Fine carbonation, slick with a surprisingly airy body which packs a punch. Lightly sweet wit nice structured tanines supporting a roasty light herbal bitterness; nice bit of red wine action going on. lasting semi-dry finish. anders37 (26987) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUL 18, 2016
