Wow! Very complex and mega full bodied imperial stout. Loads of chocolate and liquorice. Soft fruity sourness, soft bitter.
500mL shared by GT2. Dark brown, near black pour with tan foam, good lacing. Aroma is hazelnut, salted caramel, nougat, cinnamon, creme fraiche, coffee, chocolate. Taste is heavy whipping cream, hazelnut, vanilla, cinnamon, hot cocoa. Silky, rich mouthfeel. Just a touch of rye whiskey. Palate is balanced- more of a porter or Black IPA in mouthfeel given the high carbonation/aeration. Not sweet at all. Alcohol level absent. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 3, 2013
500mL green wax thanks to ThoreauLikeAGirl. Pours a clear deep brown with higher carbonation. Medium, small bubbled pillowy foam forms with an extremely careful pour. High retention and giant swathes of lacing. Looks ink black in the Oerbier stemware. If you were to pour this like a normal RIS, be prepared for all foam. Nose off the bat is rich barrel, savory roast, sweet caramelized onion, spicy barrel, more of that off-putting red onion. Taste is silky and rich, no sourness or funk like I was sort of expecting. Instead, this is a mega rich melted chocolate dessert beer with hazelnut praline. Palate is silky, velvety but not sweet or sticky. No alcohol presence at all. Pretty crazy how much work was put into this to make something fairly straightforward, but nearly flawless. The body is aerated, high effervescence for style, but somehow not thin. reggiedunlop (3717) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 14, 2013
Pours black with subtle ruby hues and a thick creamy tan head...nice retention. Aroma is whiskey forward with nice rye notes...just a touch of booze...notes of toffee, dark chocolate, dark fruit and brown sugar. Flavor has some sweet brown sugar and toffee, roasty dark chocolate, a touch of dark fruit, and nice rye whiskey. Mouthfeel is medium and sticky with a roasty dark chocolate/coffee/warming whiskey finish. Definitely on the sweete/dessert side but very enjoyable! Easily the best of the three. Aroma is sweet chocolate, toffee, and slight rye. Pours black with little head. Taste is sweet with a sticky honey whiskey taste. Nice rye and chocolate notes. Thin mouthfeel and kind of flat. Darned tasty.

Bottle. Side x side x side (steel, red wine, & rye whiskey). Poured a dark brown color, almost black and a small sized off white head. Roast, vanilla, wood, dark fruits, and some whiskey. Alcohol content hidden. egajdzis (6499) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 7, 2013
Dark brown / nearly reddish color with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, charred wood, smoke, and whiskey. Taste of roast, cocoa, smoke, wood, light vanilla, and whiskey in the finish. Palme (4778) - Bergen, NORWAY - AUG 7, 2013
Sampled from a 0.355l bottle @ Top Hops (BA) Bottle Share. As good as black or at least deep dark brown in the glass with a small quickly gone dark brown top. The nose has actually some rye. Cocoa dark chocolate sweetness. There is a thick and smooth good oily mouthfeel and a soft prickling carbonation level. It’s a bit sweet at first, then gets quite woody. Really wood infused you might say. A delicious beer. Perfect sipper. Would love to really enjoy a bottle of this by my self. 15.06.2013 Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 5, 2013
Pours dark unclear coffee with a nice creamy dark beige head. Aroma brings sweet creamy mocha, love the addition the barrel brings here. Flavor brings creamy chocolate and some bitter tame malts, no booze at all! It is so smooth for such a high ABV. 50belair (3617) - Florida, USA - JUL 29, 2013
Bottle, thanks to Seth. Dark brown pour with an off white head. Caramel and booze aromas. Big whiskey, muted roasted malts, and oak notes. A little thin in the body. Decent mouthfeel.
