3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 26, 2013 Served on-tap at Al’s of Hampden.
A - Pours golden yellow with a nice one finger tall white head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving spotty trails of lace down parts of the glass. This version is a little lighter in color than the Tired Hands.
S - Smells of pale malt, pungent grassy hops and a dash of tropical fruit. The hops are not shy in this one. Very nice nose from start to finish. It compares quite favorably to its sister beer.
T - Stars off with an intense grassy hop bite slowly giving way to some chewy pale malt and dulled tropical fruit. Finish is a little chewy with plenty of lingering bitterness. Almost identical here as well, maybe a small difference in feel.
M - Medium-Light body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, slightly chewy feel with plenty of bitterness. I like this one but the feel of the Tired Hands version is just a touch smoother.
O - I am a sucker for these hoppy lagers so I really like this one. It is very easy to consume yet still very flavorful. I do like the Tired Hands version by the slightest of margins, because of its smoother more rounded taste/feel, but this one is still excellent.
Aroma is one of beer’s most complex features. Aroma is propelled by lively CO2 and dampened by pillowy heads - especially nitrogen foam. Click on a term below to add it to your tasting notes.

Draft at the brewpub after the Hand Farm release. Poured a deep shade of copper with a full foamy average sized mostly white head. Aroma of dry toast, slight molasses sweetness, dry caramel and some old orange slices. Medium to fuller body with strong carbonation and a chewy and syrupy finishes that dries out by the end. Flavor of dry bread crusts, dry citrus rind, bread and dry grssy hop cones. Solid for the style. tcane7 (1674) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 14, 2013
Growler. Pours clean gold with thick off-white head and tons of lacing. Aroma is citrus, melon, tropical fruit. Big hop flavor - tangerine, melon, mango. Not very bitter but more akin to a pale ale than a traditional lager. Very tasty. MrChopin (4304) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 13, 2013
15h1min growler. hazy gold-amber, thin white ring, extreme lacing, oily top. Nose is light oxidation and syrup, but behind is fresh grains, light grass, and incredibly dusty grass. Flavor is more bitter, lots of grain and grass up front, little nut, mid is lighter, bitter but empty with fizzy carbonation, short finish. High carbonation and bitter but drowns out grains, no lasting finish, muddled.

Growler provided by MrChopin. Poured clear golden color with a small white head. Aroma was very good - light pine notes, hops with some malty notes. Flavor had some pine and hop notes, grapefruit. Not too bad. GT (10002) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 6, 2013
Growler thanks to MrChopin. Filled exactly 15 hours ago on premise, Fridged one hour later. Then brought to our tasting the following day. Pours a sparkling, deep golden with thick, buttermilk foam. Huge lacing. Nose is apple, danker hops, but moving to wet paint. Taste is spicy, strawberries, alcohol, nutty, fresh orange juice. Palate is spicy, bitter, silky. The beer is golden and clear with a small white head. The aroma offers hops, light pine and floral notes. Nice flavor. Highly drinkable. Lingering hop and floral toes. Light to medium bodied. Another tasty brew from Tired Hands. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - JAN 5, 2013
Fresh growler, thanks anonymous provider. Small off-white head atop crystal clear amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, catty, grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, catty, some orange. Light-medium body, light resin, stickiness. With all these hops, I don’t know how this is a Helles, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t damn tasty. Hazy deep golden color, bright white edge head. Aroma of freshly cut wet grass. Taste is bitter grass, straw, hay. Very nice.
