COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strong dark saison brewed with just enough caramel malts and boiled for almost five hours in our direct-fire kettle. Conditioned for five month in one of our dish-bottom fermenters. This beer is gorgeous.

Pours a murky brown with no head. Aroma of dates, raisins, caramel and toffee. Taste follows, sweet dark fruit. This is delicious and really held up

Bottle at the ice cider tasting at James’. Pours a hazed brown. Soft malt, warm plums and caramel. Medium-bodied, warm and sweet, caramel, malt, big plums. Sweet and full of caramel. Super smooth, malty and full of caramel.

Bottle. Brown pour with tan head. Sweet Belgian candy, other fruit and malty aromas. Flavors are Belgian candy, light plum and fruit tones. Valiant attempt at a Belgian style.

Bottle: Thanks, Hayden. Murky brown, off-copper color with a few lazy bubbles that rise to the top; appears to have lost most of its carbonation... Also appears fairly thin. Aroma has perfumey plums, caramel covered dates, black cherries, sweet toffee glaze, & a mild inclusion of warming alcohol & yeast in the back-end. Tastes of super-sweet caramel, date, nuts, prunes, spicy Belgian yeast, mildly vinous grapes, toffee, plums, apples... Lots going on, just like Westy 12. Unfortunately this is nowhere near as coherent, & instead of coming off as "complex" it just seems overbearing & muddled. First sip isn’t too bad but it grows cumbersome quickly & gets cloyingly sweet with warmth. Syrupy, sticky mouth feel. Not completely horrible, but not even in the same galaxy as Westvleteren XII (not as if I expected it to be, though).

Bottle at home with friends. Pour is murky brown with no head - completely still. Big figgy, raisins, prunes, brown sugar, caramel, candi sugar, earthy, bready, doughy, and light leather in the aroma. Taste is sweet caramel, light bourbon, raisins, dates, prunes, somewhat nutty, light cocoa, plums, and red grapes. Slick mouthfeel with no carbonation - though not off-putting. Pretty cool try.

At Stephens house with Dave and Stephen. Pours murky brown. Aroma is huge fig and raison, caramel, malt, some cardboard but in a good way. Taste is huge awesome figs and raisins, fuck yeah. Finish is savory and sweet. Love it.

This one poured a dark red color with a small beige head. Aroma was of dark fruits, prunes and grapes, light spices, caramel, toffee, and yeast. Flavor was lightly sweeter, darker candy sugar, figs, caramel, and toffee. A pretty great replication in my opinion
