COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & bottled; Regular.

Brewed using Roast Barley and Maris Otter Pale Malt which give a huge amount of rich body to the beer and a generous amount of English North down hops to create a bitter edge, the sweetness comes from the addition of Chocolate and Madagascan Vanilla

Cask; black, thin bubbly head; thick milk chocolate aroma - like cooking chocolate; tastes of two scoops of chocolate and vanilla ice cream that have been left alone in the sun to melt into one another; slight roasted character; an ok novelty half, but it’s not something I’d readily go for again.

Black with a good head. Aroma has chocolate liquor, chocolate, cherries, and vanilla. Taste has a lot of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, vanilla, and more chocolate. Wonderful dessert beer, though I think higher alcohol would bring out more of the sweetness.

Cask Half Pint at Kingston Beer Festival, Kingston, Surrey, June 2009 - Black in colour. Very Chocolate. Very vanilla. Malty; burnt malts. Bitter hops. Very full flavoured. Very burnt. Very very bitter hoppy and very burnt throughout. Interesting stout. Unique. (2009-06)

Vanilla, prunes, sweet chocolate, pralines, sweet molasses. Hazy, dark brown, medium, creamy, beige head. Medium sweet. More intense vanilla, plum and other dark fruits, rich, moist dark chocolate pralines, soft carbonation, full bodied. Super rich on vanilla, bit too much for my taste, otherwise very solid Stout. Cask at Tabard, Chiswick.

Dark small beige head. Vanilla ice cream big milk chocolate does what it says on the bottle. Bottle at home as a present for fixing a boiler

Cask at craft 100. It pours a dark brown color with a small beige head. Aroma is medium sweet and lightly roasty malty with notes of lactose vanilla and cocoa. Taste is also medium sweet with notes of vanilla, cocoa, cream and biscuit. Medium bodied with ok carbonation. Overall, quite nice

Bottle from The Beerhive. Black body with a thin beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of vanilla essence, nuts and cocoa powder. Flavour of blueberries, vanilla ice-cream and milk chocolate. Thin body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Quite sweet and heavy on the vanilla, but a decent beer overall.

Cask @ Three Pigeons, Halifax. Extremely dark, but not quite black, with a thick, creamy, slightly off-white head. It does what it says on the tin - it’s both chocolate and vanilla in aroma and taste, with the former dominant in its nose. It is thinner in its texture than you’d expect it to be though.

Bottle from Titanic Brewery. Pours a deep brown colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of chocolate, some vanilla, slight oats and subtle roasted malts. Taste of chocolate, some roasted malts, slight vanilla, subtle oats and a little earth. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, roasted, chocolate bitterness in the finish. Superb aroma of chocolate and vanilla, however the taste is a little dryer, some roastiness, subtle earth but it’s still a tasty stout. Amazing on cask.

the aroma is caramel and chocolate with hints of vanilla, robust and brown sugar... the taste is chocolate and caramel with notes of roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, toffee and some spices... sweet and bitter aftertaste...

Direct from the barrel. The vanilla and chocolate is fragrantly evident. Pours expresso black with bubbly head but no lace. A rich mouthful with the vanilla accenting the sweetness of the roasted malt. The chocolate lurks. There is a bitterness left on the palate but this is exactly what it says - chocolate & vanilla. A change rather than a habit. I suspect it could do wonders on draft at a care home that needed to cure overcrowding. A kindness.
