Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and some nuts, leading to a dry finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing. oh6gdx (26488) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUL 17, 2010
Bottled (from Estate Wine, Holstebro). Ruby colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is fruits, raisins, some toffee, caramel malts and some mild fruity bitterness as well. Flavour is quite much the same. Mild spicyness as it warms up. Lovely balanced beer. Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 16, 2009

Bottle shared at the Craft Beer Co. - Clerkenwell, London Holiday Tasting - thanks to me, lover of ESA. Pours clear copper with a tight, tan cream head. Dry brown bread nose, some toasted brown sugars, dried fruits. Medium sweet flavor with dry brown bread, bitter leaves, light cocoa, some dirt. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet finish, lightly sticky, some earthy and leafy bitterness, rich and well toasted whole grain bread. Not bad, actually. Clear mid brown with a thin off white head that soon bades farewell and heads to the edge of the glass.
Nose is toffee, touch of booze, wood, dark fruits, raisens.
Taste follows, dark toffee, sugars, dark fruits, malt.
Medium bodied with bite, smooth on the palate, soft carbonation.
Not being a lover of the ubiqitous ’Christmas Ale’ I was pleasantly surprised by this one - not bad at all ! harrisoni (18578) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2009
500ml bottle at The Rake courtesy of MagicDave6. Ruby, thin white head. It’s a bit syrupy, some red fruits. Not a great, even slightly farty aroma. Syrupy fruits in the mouth. In fact, too syrupy for me. saxo (18301) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - FEB 28, 2011
Bottle from Havnens vin og tobak. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are dried fruits, orange, nuts, caramel, malt and hops. mcberko (17830) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 30, 2011
On tap at The Wellington in Birmingham, pours dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma of light brown sugar and toffee. Flavour is much more full-bodied than the nose suggests, with toffee, burnt caramel and earthy hops. Full-bodied palate - malt heavy initially, with a hop finish. Very nice.
