Draught at GABF 2008. Clear nutbrown - white head. Smokey, nutty, bread, smooth, malty sweetness, ryebread, high malty, grainy. Nice. crossovert (13457) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Decent but the malt bill is too "clean" and modern. The beer seems too clear and sterile. nuplastikk (6373) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 5, 2010
Draft at the OF. Oh yes, finally a Rauchbier makes it’s way to the Fash. Filtered looking, deep amber brown, approaching a Portery color. Certainly reminiscent of the greats like Schlenkerla. A great smoked beer, straight down the middle, perhaps with a little bonus chocolate malt. JK (6240) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - AUG 9, 2009
From Skyview. Aroma has oak with light smoke. Moderate smoke in the flavor, with a thin but appropriate malt body. Very dark brown, with a medium palate. A fine job from a small brewpub. Certainly recognizable as a smoked beer. I wish more small brewers would give this style a go. Skyview (6093) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - SEP 29, 2008
On draught at the brewpub in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pours a clear copper amber brew with a thick beige head that has some good retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of toasted and smoked multi-grain caramel malt, a touch of maple syrup, bacon, and floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonation with flavors of smoked caramel malt, some milk chocolate, maple, and a touch of toffee. Finish continues the smoked malt aftertaste with a semi-sweet malt character. A solid smoked beer with a good balance of flavor.

Growler from Skyview. Dark brown color with a medium head. Light smokey aroma. Lots more smoke in the flavor. Plenty of that good, Bamburg smoke. Dry grain finish. That1Guy (2237) - Colorado, USA - NOV 26, 2008
Crushed with Jakebra and co. at the brewery. Aight. Smoke. Bacon. Awesome. Pretty sexy. phishpond417 (2088) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 10, 2008
I’ve had only a handful of experiences with rauchbiers. It was a nice brew from Ttown, however i expected a lot more coming through in its smokey character. Pours a dark copper colour with a medium sized white head. aroma is oaky, slightly smokey and nutty. Taste is rich, lighter then i imagined but pleasent adn creamy. brewblackhole (1588) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 9, 2010
Pleasantly surprising, definetly pick up the beechwood in aroma, also some quality molassas/chocolate malting. Flavor is the same, smoke not the intensity of the German brews ,but surprisingly distinct, one of the best midwest smoked beers i have had Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - OCT 10, 2008
(growler from Skyview) Pours light brown with an off-white head. The aroma is composed of a lot of campfire wood, some chocolate, and lightly burnt microwave popcorn. The taste is very nice with a great balance of sweet and smoky flavors. Some chocolate, roasted malt, and of course smoke show up, but one doesn’t dominate over the other. This was a pretty good beer, that would be quite sessionable.
