On tap at the brewery & restaurant bar, served to a nonic pint, with a black/brown hue, creamy & lasting, brownish tan head froth, and waves & spots of lacing. The aroma was roasted, with cocoa and a touch of caramel sweetness. Lightly woody, with good malt, moderate hop bitterness, and a medium+ body. Soft+ carbonation, with some dryness to the finish. Very drinkable! BVery (10716) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - AUG 3, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Tap at the brewpub. Dark cola pour, frothy head. Roasted malts and some molasses sweetness. Very good. Slegar (26) - Green bay, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 30, 2012
Oh I like this. Coffee and chocolate notes. Got a fuggles like aura about it. And a bitterness that's perfect. Easily my favorite beer on the menu.

Pours a dark black colour with a little light brown head. Taste is slightly metallicy, so i was turned off a bit by that. Mouthfeel was a little thin, otherwise deep dark flavors of chcolate and spice. Taste is creamy and rich, Aroma is pleasent, black cherries. JK (6240) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - SEP 14, 2008
Thick and heavy on the palate. Coffee, tobacco, and malt roasted to the point of being nearly burnt. Still, more fully flavored than many, and a good smooth palate. All of the flavors work. Better than a a lot of dialed in porters. badgerben (5255) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - SEP 9, 2008
Growler courtesy of Skyview. Dark brown color with a large head. Awesome chocolate and roasted malt aroma. The flavor pulls back a lot, down to just a hint of coffee, very light smoke and some roasted malt. Petrucci914 (910) - Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 8, 2008
Color is black/dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and anise. Taste is about the same. Nothing too special but an enjoyable and solid porter. Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - SEP 6, 2008
(growler thanks Skyview!) Pours black with an off-white head. The aroma was primarily dominated by burnt malts, with scents of smoke, sour spent coffee grounds, and an odd barnyard scent that smelled similar to wet hay. The taste is completely overtaken by overly roasted malt, slight smoke, coffee, and just a hint of chocolate appears, but it does nothing to offset the massive onslaught of astringency. Medium mouthfeel.
