375 ml. bb 03/06/25. Deep brown-black brew with a quarter inch disc of enduring foam. Smell is prune, lightly tart berry, soy and dark-toasted marshmallow. Flavors of rich mocha, dark bread, light berries. Late finish has some raisin and mild notes of cured tobacco and soy. Medium-plus bodied and sweet with just enough acidity to keep from being cloy. Black with a brown head. Looks thick. Roasty aroma with slight yogurt notes, some coffee and salty caramel. Full bodied, somewhat sweet. Very hot.

500ml bottle from Sonoma Cellars in Oconomowoc. Very dark brown pour with a beige head. Nose is thick roasty, sweet caramel, bakers chocolate with light phenols. Taste is sweetly roasty, caramel, bittersweet chocolate, some dark fruit, light molasses. Taste is good with the strong roast focus, but also somewhat rough. Medium-to-full bodied. On tap at Draught. Pours a deep black with the faintest hint of a tan head around the edges. Big boozy roast and plums on the nose, lactose sweetness, malt. Alcohol is certainly detectable on the nose, but it’s not hot and angry, but subtle, and knowing. It mocks you. It knows what comes next. Medium bodied, warm and full of chocolate pudding, boozy and with a touch of sweet vanilla. Creamy mouthfeel, the lactose sweetness really comes through here, along with plums and prunes. Tastes like boozy instant pudding. Boozy on the finish.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of slightly hoppy chocolate. And something like olefins? Full bodied or nearly. Flavor is lots and lots of chocolate, Plus some lactose. And there’s some fruit that is not common.
