Aroma: citrus, bitter/hoppy smells.
Appearance: A clear black porter with minimal head,
Taste: This beer has a medium-to-heavy bitterness: Too much for a porter. (Tastes too much like the current crop of North American microbrews: everyone doing an "ipa"... hop soup.)
Palate: Astringent start, with a full body, with a creamy texture. A softish carbonation, with a long, bitter aftertaste.

Tap @ BRUS. Pours Black with small beige head. Coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, raisins, a bit peat. Soft carbonation and full body. Shag (3077) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - FEB 17, 2018
A pitch black color with a tan head. Its purty. The aroma is a bit smoky but not overwhelming with some dark chocolate, espresso, and licorice. The flavor is somewhat bitter and smoky. Not smoky like a rauchbier but its there. The flavor contains some dark chocolate, espresso, raisins, licorice. The aftertaste is a bit bitter but hints of some sweetness like molasses in there.. Little alcohol can be detected in this. Overall wow is this really good! mmmaxxx (10) - Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 4, 2018
UPDATED: FEB 4, 2018 I'm lazing on a Sunday afternoon with this thick, powerful Black Ball. You can chill with this as it will keep giving it to you. There are subtleties but they are not shy, so sit back and enjoy the long lasting kicks. explosivedog (1993) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 16, 2018
330ml bottle. Pours black with a big tan head that lasts. Chocolate, ash, toast, sweet cherry, orange peel, touch of pine, little booze in the finish. Reasonably big body. Outstanding.

Finish is long, lasting bitter coffee. kaserov (1217) - Oviedo, SPAIN - JAN 13, 2018
Final amargo. Seca. Postgusto a ceniza. DerWeg (1769) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 10, 2018
Can pours a viscous very dark brown coat and massive cocoa head. Dry and fruity and roasty aroma. Taste of rich roasted malt and coffee, bitter hops, and bready-demerara richness makes this a treat. Pdubyah (855) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 5, 2018
Wow, there's no hiding from the amazing taste in this, rich deep dark burnt coffee chocolate and smoke. That's rather a surprise from a beer that has not a lot of aroma. djoeye (5542) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JAN 2, 2018
