COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We bring to you an black thick milk stout called By Udder Means. We wanted to do a stout, that had a thick mouth feel and still a low alcohol percentage. We obtained this by adding a solid amount of lactose in the beer. The yeast strain we used is not capable of fermenting lactose, so when the beer stops fermenting all lactose still remains in the beer. At the same time lactose doesn’t leave this sweet touch to the beer, so you can obtain a thick mouth feel without having an overly sweet or overly strong stout. We hope you enjoy.

Smells like porter and peaches. Pitch black tiny off-white head. Taste of goose berries, peach and a lot of hops. Very thin, without the depht you expect from a stout.

Chocolate dulce en nariz. Buen cuerpo, cremosa. Espuma consistente. En boca más cafetosa y con final amargote. BOTELLA. Sin lote ni fecha de consumo.

Scipio (1273) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - JAN 5, 2018
Pours black with a full, thick, dark tan head that slowly settles. The aroma is big on chocolate, with cocoa and roasted malts, and hints of soy and spices. The taste has some good bitterness and isn't all that sweet. Chocolate still stands tall, but now the roasted elements are quite robust as well. Undertones are licorice, caramel, coffee, and I still get a subtle spicy touch. Long chocolate aftertaste. Medium in body, creamy in texture, and almost flat in carbonation. I really enjoyed this one.

Fekete szín, vékony, de tartós krémes barna hab. Tejeskávés aroma. Édes pörkölt malátás, étcsokoládés ízvilág. Száraz, kesernyés utóíz. Finom.

Opaque dark brown beer, decent tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth and mellow dark malts, some light tang. Thin dark chocolate and thin dark malt creamy sweetness. A mild roast bitterness counterpoint. Light tangy fruits and a little stewed tea! Light dry finish. Okay.

Deep dark brown color with huge frothy beige head. Smells mostly of cocoa, dark chocolate, roastiness with a hint similar to marshmallows. Taste is full of dark chocolate, slight hint of roasted malts, a bit of vanilla. Mouthfeel is thick albeit slightly watery. Leaves dark chocolate-like aftertaste

Bottle from Winooski Beverage depot. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Bitter roasted notes on the nose and tongue. Not getting much of the lactose. Not my favorite version of the style.
