COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The next beer in the To Øl hop adventure is now a reality – we present to you Dangerously Close To Stupid. An Imperial IPA at 9,3 % ABV with a close to stupid amount of Citra and Centennial Hops in it. It is a bright crisp and super dry-hopped IIPA with a smooth and balanced body. To make a tight transition between the hop profile and the body we have removed all caramel malts and focused only on basis malts. This is resulting in a nice fresh Spring/Summer IIPA that has a Dangerously Close To Stupid drinkability. We have for a long time been wanting to do a pendant to the Final Frontier Double IPA, that has this rich caramel body and we think we nailed it Dangerously Close to Perfect with this one

On tap at Kick. A small, white to off-white head sits on top of a hazy orange-golden body. The aroma is mostly fruity, tropical fruits, peaches and pineapples, pine cones and grass. Malty sweetness too. Quite bitter flavor with enough sweetness to bring some balance. Full body, soft carbonation. Mostly bitter finish, with lots of fruityness. Pleasant indeed, but not fantastic. 130620

On tap at Mikkeller & Friends, pours a cloudy orange with a small beige head. Aroma of resinous hops, dry caramel malts, and tropical fruits. Flavour of dry resinous hops, dry caramel malts, and some dry tropical fruity notes. Very rich and full-bodied, with dry fruity and resinous hop notes dominating. Excellent stuff.

Massively sticky stodgy aroma. Almondy (german bock-like) grains. Sticky and sweet. Resiny stickiness too. Dirty bitterness in the finish. Too sweet and sticky. Heady, covers the alcohol only by overpowering it. Very disappointing. I pulled a pretty ugly face with every mouthful. Yes, even worse than normal!
Rerate: Tap (Pudel Baar, Tallinn) (5:4:6:3:12=3.0)
Still cloudy, and still has a distinctively plasticky aroma that I associate with heller bocks. Smooth palate, not so sticky. Full malty body, but the hops smother that, fruity, fleshy fruits (that’s in part the malt sweetness). No ugly faces this time. Not my style, but certainly adequate. Useful rerate.
Rerate: 330ml bottle (?, Tallinn) BB201503, Drunk201312 (6:4:6:4:13=3.3)
Poured much clearer - just a haze. Orangy straw, tight off-white head. Still getting that bocky-malt almond aroma, but not as much as before. Not quite so plasticky. For it’s strength, quite light in the mouth, pleasant carbonation. Again, that heller-bock maltiness in the retronasals. Simple malty body follows, but that’s drowned in the hops. Not quite as fruity as before, but this is a month older, maybe the hops are fading? Tingly bitterness, a touch fatty too in the finish. Covers the alcohol more subtly, definitely an improvement. Worth the re-rerate.
