The great warrior of Gath. The mighty champion of the Philistines. Embedded in ancient folklore and religion. Coming from the World of Old. His size and stature is not human. He is bigger. The armor of Goliat is black. Creamy black lacings. Stands with a towering height. He can grab elements from both earth and heaven. Earthy, roasted, notes from the earth. Warming, pungent, sweet notes from the skies. His heart is beating slowly, almost endlessly slow. This man is thought to be invincible!

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade sugar, flaked oats, hops, gourmet coffee and yeast.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle (375 ml) at home. Dark brown - almost black - with a large very dark brown head leaving good lacing. Flavors of perfumy coffee mostly but also burnt caramel, anise, brown sugar, mineral notes, boozy notes and grapes. Taste is rather sweet with a mild coffee acidity, boozy notes and mild coffee bitterness. Full body. Medium carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Grapey and burnt caramel finish with lingering coffee presence. I’m not a fan of the coffee they used for this one - or at least of the way it shows up in that beer - and I find the grapey sweetness to be a bit cloying. Otherwise, it’s a flavorful and rather complex coffee RIS.

Just one of the best Imperial Stouts I have ever had! Sweet smell and taste with great coffee notes. Thick mouthfeel and boozy aftertaste. I liket this version over the barrel aged by far.

Aromat kawowy, palony, intensywny. Czarne nieprzejrzysta. Piana koloru beżowego pozostawiająca ładną koronkę. W smaku słodkie, gęste dobrze skontrowane goryczką. Dominuje kawa. Nagazowanie słabe idealnie pasujące do piwa.

Pours black with good tan head. Aroma of coffee, vanilla and chocolate. Quite sweet on the nose. Taste of molasses, cherry and Berry fruits before the coffee takes over hugely. Quite high carbonation for the style. Finish is quite sweet and mild bitter with a touch of smoke

Tap at world of beer sugar land. Black black black with a big frothy brown head that laces heavily. Aroma of coffee, molasses, chocolate milk, and far fruits. Taste is huge and rich; sweet and roasty and bitter. Medium-full bodied and creamy. Amazing good.

Marstonlad (927) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 8, 2016
UPDATED: MAY 7, 2016 Bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. Pours jet black with a light brown head. The aroma features a delicious combination of dark chocolate, coffee and sweetish dark bread. Taste is medium to heavily sweet with roasty and bitter notes lingering on the sidelines but not really making themselves felt. Chocolate and coffee dominate with some dark fruitiness and syrup appearing also. Sweetness makes this seem like Irish coffee and not totally in a good way. The palate is medium to full bodied and velvety smooth. Conflicting beer in many ways; sweet maltiness brings some good flavours but is definitely too assertive. Would have hoped for stronger hoppiness.
