The great warrior of Gath. The mighty champion of the Philistines. Embedded in ancient folklore and religion. Coming from the World of Old. His size and stature is not human. He is bigger. The armor of Goliat is black. Creamy black lacings. Stands with a towering height. He can grab elements from both earth and heaven. Earthy, roasted, notes from the earth. Warming, pungent, sweet notes from the skies. His heart is beating slowly, almost endlessly slow. This man is thought to be invincible!

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade sugar, flaked oats, hops, gourmet coffee and yeast.

Bottle. Jet black with a 2 finger mocha colored head. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, roasted malt and a hint of vanilla. Not picking up any coffee there. Coffee comes to the forefront in the taste, supported by chocolate, roasted malt and a solid alcoholic burn. Rich, oily, chewy palate. This is awesome.

Wow. What a beer. Pours black with almost no head. Aroma is sweet and extremely coffee centered. Some hops, surprisingly refreshing and dark malts. Medium to heavy body, thick mouthfeel, very sweet and rich. Dark malts, hops and especially loads of coffee. What a brilliant Imperial stout!

Wonderful appearance, haven’t seen such a foam yet. Aroma is mostly coffe. Taste is quite interesting as it is very hoppy. I think this is the most hoppy RIS I have tried and it’s really good. It can be summarized in 2 words: coffe and hops.

Tap at Erzbierschof Bern. Pours pitch black with a soft brown foam. Aroma is sugar, marzipan, light chocolate, coffee, but really mostly candy and sugar. Body is heavy and extremely sweet. Soft carbonation, sticky, sugar and candy flavours. Lightly boozy towards the long sweet palate. This beer is diabetes, rather too much for me.

Dark, minimal head. Strong coffee, dark fruits, cocoa, poppey seeds. Too sweet, like a liquid dessert with roasty bitterness. Full body, soft carbonation, thick. Long finish.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter. Almost black, with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee, raisin, roasted malts. Full body, and exceedingly sweet. So sweet that I just can’t drink this.

Black. Very little aroma, but plenty of flavour. Big malt profile that opens up with sweetness, coffee and chocolate, and finishes with dark, bitter malts and ash. Full body, and a silky smooth mouthfeel. Overall, a great coffee stout. Big and strong, sweet, and incredibly smooth. Like liquid rye bread with coffee.

Pours with creamy and attractive light brown foam. Color is that of black coffee. Aroma has plum juice, dark chocolate, black leather, capuccino, grape-based sweet liquor (e.g. port wine), salt licorice and licorice. Aroma is luxurious. Palate is well balanced between oiliness and dryness. The carbonation is weakish, but suitable for the style and thus not a problem. Taste is sweet and has plum juice, hazel nut, moist raisin, slight coffee taste and again port wine like liquor. This is quite fresh for a porter. There’s slightly too much sweetness to my taste, but others might find the sweetness delicious. It’s an enjoyable and quality porter, but not exactly for my taste.

Dejlig syrlig smag.
