375 ml. bottle sampled @ Borefts 2014 Hotel Room tasting. Thank you! I still adore this name; Dark brown, black, solid mocha. Thick mocha, caramel, sweet, thick chocolate, light roast,..; Thick mocha, light soy sauce, caramel, touch smoke, thick mocha, roast, sweet chocolate, syrup, lightly warming. Very thick. Faint chilli. Rated this one noticeably higher than the Cognac BA version.

On tap at Biercab. Black colour with tan head. Chocolate, roasted aroma. Sweet, chocolate, roasted and coffee taste, also slightly spicy. Medium to full body.

Bottle. Black with a large good lasting light brown head. This is really sweet. Sugar, molasses, syrup, all things sugar. Some chilli heat finally kicks in, but the first five seconds or so is just syrup. Warming alcohol, white chocolate, coconut. Medium body, sticky texture, medium carbonation, sticky sweet finish. I used to like this, but damn it is sweet and sticky even though the alcohol and chilli lifts it a bit.

12.7 oz bottle. Dark brown with a puffy tan head. Nose is dusty chocolate, cola, prune and molasses. The chili sneaks up to singe the nostrils. Spicy hot, medium to full body with a sharp tang. Taste is French roast, prune, dark chocolate and bitter grass. Earthy hints of chili pepper with restrained heat.

"Well made imperial stout that I had a hard time believing was over 12%. Big rosted malt notes and bitter coffee and some chocolate, but the roast is king. Very smooth at any strength. Light bite from the chillies. If there is a fault, it’s that the peppers are not as pronounced as I hoped, but damn this was still a great beer."

375ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a large tan head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. Treacle, milk chocolate, roasty malt warmth and fruity chilli create the aroma. An initial hint of treacle sweetness is soon overcome by chilli heat, which fades to milk chocolate smoothness in the mid-palate. A slight fruity flavour mixes with resurgent chilli in the finish, and there is a lingering blend of alcohol warmth and chilli heat. The chilli has been added to just the right level to complement the beer and make its presence felt without being overpowering, and works very nicely with the sweetness of the base beer. Very enjoyable.
