On tap at The Roundhouse Taproom Hong Kong. Got a free sample of it and came back for more later. Really nice aroma with chocolate, berries, sherry, whiskey. Very sweet taste. Notes of cashew nuts in there also. Like it a lot.

kraddel (8584) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - MAR 28, 2017
Pours black, good, bit darker head. Smell is intense, very roasty, dark malts, bit sharp by the booze, but not to extreme. Taste is very full, very roasty. Intense, not recognizable sherry, but I do get intense oak notes. Bit booze, but all in balance. Nice MF and carbo.

Bottle. Pitch black with medium, light brown, dense head. Average head retention and lacing. Aroma is roasted malts (mainly milk chocolate, some light coffee accents), quite strong oaky and BA accents (much more comparing to the other versions). Some hot, smokey notes, light boozy character in the background. Taste is sth between semi-sweet and semi-dry. Definitely this version is less sweet, nice peppery hot character. Full body, thick/oily texture, soft carbonation, finish is semi-dry, chocolate, hot and astringent. Slightly booze warming with a touch o chill peppers. In general this version is the least sweet, but still nicely balanced. The high ABV is quietly noticeable and not well hidden, but the rest is still perfectly matched.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Cotteridge, Birmingham consumed at home making Kohzi Masala Fry and a Daily Dal (it’s National Curry Week) Friday 14th October 2016. Pours black, really black with a tan head, looks fab. A steady warmth throughout from the chillies, nice oily mouthfeel. This is surprisingly easy drinking at 12.2%. The sherry cask ageing is noticeable, it both softens the this and adds a little sweet sherry flavour but doesn’t overtake. Good stuff. A7 A4 T8 P5 Ov16 4.0

Bottled. Black colour, small brown head. Very similar to the cognac aged version. This one has much more wooden notes though. This one has a slightly better balance to it as well, rounding off the alcohol a bit.

Drinks pretty easy for a complex 12%er. Dark brown pour, nose is chocolate coffee and a good amount of sherry and wood. Medium to heavy body with a flavor to match the smell. Chili is completely drowned out in this one.

weark (833) - Morges, SWITZERLAND - JUL 16, 2016

Catch up from last night’s RIS bottle share. Sherry barrels add some new aspects here, some sweetness, some spicy, some wood. All together makes for a complex brew. An already solid RIS extended with new characteristics.

Boise Imperial Stout Tasting. Dark brown color with a little tan head. Nose is sweet, rich. Tastes sweet with a little bite, rich chocolate and roasty tones tamed by the sweet and mildly spicy barrel notes. Really nice.
