UPDATED: APR 1, 2016 Pours oily black, slightly muddy because of yeasts, with light brown foamy unstable head. Visually low carbonation. Aroma is rich, with strong note of roasted malt, with coffee, bittersweet chocolate and cocoa like character and with fruity presence of hops. Alcohol presence is also obvious. Flavor is rich, strong, intense: strong roasted malt flavor, with bittersweet chocolate, coffee and cocoa like character, with intense fruity esters, which takes on plums, prunes. Malt backbone also supports bready, woody (oak) flavors. Finish is slightly liquoric and dry. Body is full, sticky, texture is luscious. Alcoohol warmth is evident, noticable. Carbonation is low. Very proper imperial stout

Saeglopur (1851) - Vienna Woods, AUSTRIA - AUG 31, 2015
330 ml bottled 7/Nov/14 from Ammersin 5, Vienna.
Black, oily body, with a small, dense, dark brown head.
Aroma of coffee, liquorice, very dark chocolate, tobacco, spices, some hops.
Tastes of espresso, liquorice, dark chocolate, molasses, tobacco, wood, alcohol.
Full, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty-bitter, dry, alcohol warming, with liquorice, coffee, wood, some tobacco.

Very nice. A pretty extreme Imperial Stout, very dark and roasty-bitter. The nose is a bit flat compared to the taste. Overall I prefer it a bit smoother and more balanced, but still an enjoyable sipper.
