From tap. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a small brown head. Aroma is dark roasted malty, chocolate and almost breadish. Thcik malty, dense rich chocolate, solid liqourice. Smooth liqourice and dark roasted malty. Vague salty impression, lending towards tarish. Somewhat sweet. Lingering dark liqourice finish. Surprisingly well hidden alcohol.

Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Palate is smooth and fairly dry. Modest fine carbonation. Rich licorice laden dark malts, slightly savoury. Smooth but strong coffee. Trace of dark chocolate. Dry and mildly spicy finish. Rich and tasty but a little dry.

Keg at BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush - London. Pours oily black with a dense, creamy brown head. The nose holds lots of dark malts, some creamy caramel, dark fruits, cocoa, hints of licorice. Hugely sweet flavor with lots of ripe dark fruit character, a bit of burnt wood, burnt toffee, earthy bitterness, gooey chocolate. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Finishes warming and sticky, with loads of burnt sugars, raisins, burnt wood, earth, dried berries, dark chocolate, faint ash. Quite a beastly number but still really tasty and dangerously drinkable.
