Without a doubt one of the best barley wines I’ve ever tasted. Incredibly well-balanced. The Muscatel aging was very clever as it helped balance the cereal flavors and ABV and bring out the sweetness. Beautiful brew. Scopey (14511) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 15, 2013
Bottle shared by Josh Craft Clerko. It pours hazy deep amber-brown with a medium off-white head. The nose is toasty, earth, spice, floral, must, brown bread, gingerbread, spice and Xmas cake. The taste is wood, earth, candy, fortified wine, candy, toffee, gingerbread, earth, toast, hot cross bun, vinous, gooseberry and white grape. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit hot, but alright. Bottle split at CBC, thanks to Josh, 05/12/13.
Hazed reddish amber with a moderate light beige covering.
Nose is booze laden, punchy tropical notes, sweaty tights, touch pissoi, caramelised sugars, vague perfume notes.
Taste mellows a little when contrasted to the nose, not quite as much going down but decent none the less with caramel malt base, brown sugars, dark stewed fruits, candied orange peel, red grapefruit, woody notes, red grapes.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, booze evident in the finish but subtle enough throughout.
Decent enough B Wine. Leighton (21083) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2013
Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell in London - big thanks to Josh! Pours lightly hazy amber with a thick, off-white head. Heavy stuff. Lots of rich, ripe fruits, berries, bread and toffee. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with some alcohol sting, dried berries, hefty bready malts. Quite sweet and intimidating on the palate but still quite tasty. maneliquor (3514) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - DEC 8, 2013
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours dark brown with a small, tan head leaving very sticky lacing. Nose is big on the dark fruits - raisin, dates, fig. Fairly stewed and tofee focused stuff with mild chocolate powder. Taste is dry and chocolate driven, mild pepper, stewed figs/dates, raisin sweetness and brown sugar. Some vanilla and banana on the finish. Moderate heat. think his could do with a fair bit of age on it. Decent stuff

Bottle: Poured a light clear amber color ale with a rather large foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of sweet toffee notes with caramelized malt with light sweet vinous notes. Taste is also dominated by sweet toffee notes with some caramelized malt with a sweet white wine finish. The whole mix is sweet without being overly so that it falls into gross territory. Body is about average with good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Not as complex as I was anticipating with nice used of barrel-aging treatment.
