lello4ever (1204) - ITALY - FEB 23, 2016
Carbonazione media. Alcol in grande evidenza. Ottimo barley wine.

Bottle from Blue Monk in Buffalo, New York. Ruby in colour with a thin off-white head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of caramel, heavy hops, spice and alcohol. The flavour is moderately sweet, hoppy, fruity, caramel. Finishes long, warming and sweet.

Bottle. Head is light beige, thin and quick dissipating and leaves a bit of lacing. Body is heavy, of hazy chestnut red color and medium carbonation. The aroma initially smells of fresh citrus hops and develops into malt sweetness, caramel and dries fruit. Taste follows aroma, with the alcohol well hidden and a short warming finish. A bit too sweet imo, but still pretty good.

Koelschtrinker (21815) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - DEC 26, 2015
Süßlicher, malzig alkoholischer Antrunk. Deutlich würzig, etwas herb. Steigende Süße, sehr getreidig. Voluminös, dennoch rund. 11/10/9/11/8/11

drpimento (3790) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 6, 2015
An extremely tasty BW. Aroma is on the mild side, but do pick up caramel and orange Julius. Flavor is like nose & traditional BW, very heavy bittersweet, nice complementary dose of carbonic tang and hops. Big beer. Good for slow drinkin.

37.5cl bottle, served in Duvel glass. Pours dark amber with medium beige head. Beautiful lacing. Aroma is caramel, ripe fruits, citrus and hints of white grape. Taste is pretty much the same, very well balanced. It worth to mention that the hop flavour is there, but not the bitterness. A lot of sweetness on the palate, so brown sugar-like, with moderate alcohol heat. Medium / full body, perfect carbonation. Well, that’s something I only drink, maybe, once a year...but I can tell it is probably the best Barley Wine I’ve had so far.

3.8
neongolden (1853) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 15, 2015
(375ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Oct 8 2015) Pours a hazy dark orange-red and a big lingering white head leaving lace. Aroma has a sweet caramel toffee core, orange juice, citrus pith, wet grass and light pine from the hops. On the palate it is very sweet, with orange juice concentrate, brown sugar, sweet red berries, light hop bitterness, and hints of grain on an otherwise clean finish. Light alcohol heat in the aftertaste. The body is medium full and oily with medium carbonation. The hops are present but there isn’t a ton of bitterness, more fruit that complements the sweet malts. Moderately complex, but a little too intensely sugary and cloying in anything but small portions.
