Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a deep orange-hued clear amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Nose is muscovado sugars, syrup, grains, deep malts, caramel, toffee and hints of alcohol, rum and toffee. Taste is caramel, toffee, alcohol, raisins, port wine, alcohol and hints of syrup and grains. Full body, medium carbonation. Nice barley wine, but not amazingly impressive.

Aroma: malty, roasted malts, dried fruits, sweet. Appearance: clear copper color, nice cream head. Taste: medium bitterness, caramel, sweet, cherry, smooth, alcohol is well covered. Palate: full body (oily texture) and low carbonation, sweet finish. Overall: Classical English Barley Wine. Really oily and quite sweet, but still drinkable. Enjoying.

12. 7 oz bottle from the Party Source at home. Pours a hazy reddish/orange/amber color with a thin off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, dark fruits, alcohol heat is warming as it goes down, but not overly boozy, some herbal notes, figs, good, not great.

Bue en bouteille de 37,5cl. Nez abricot prune. Au palais, amertume houblonnée, bois, sucre candi, pêche. Complexité énorme, plusieurs niveaux de dégustation. Finale puissante sur le bois et la vanille.

Deep muddy amber body with off white head and speckles of lacing on the glass. Sweet grainy aroma, rich dried fruit, vanilla, banana. Taste is mostly sweet and rich with a nice bitter aftertaste. Light palate but lasting flavour. No hint of the whopping 12.7 % alcohol in this one. Abv well masked. Overall a pretty fabulous barley wine.

Danish barley wine brewed in Belgium. Moussy, yellowish white, dense head leaving good lacing and retaining remarkably well considering the impressive ABV; colour is a truly stunning pure copper, clear with fine sparkling. Lovely fruity and earthy aroma, very complex and seductive, with hints of orange liqueur, cognac, candi sugar, madera and sherry, butterscotch, peaches in syrup, black pepper, red apple, banana, mango, leather, sweet tobacco, dried ginger, honey, amaretto, grapefruit, sweat and something faintly smoky. Sweet onset, candi syrup, raisins, apple juice, marzipan, sherry; resinous, smooth but thick and full, very vinous mouthfeel, deep caramelly and honeyish malt sweetness, chocolatey accents, medium carbonation, spicy notes all around, retronasal perfume, finishing long and dry with brandy- and liqueur-like, heart warming alcohol, earthy and somewhat ’dusty’ yeastiness, bonbon-like sweetness and peppery, sharpish and assertive hop bitterishness. Barley wines are one of my favorite styles on a gloomy winter’s day like today and this is a very good example, though perhaps a tad too sweet to comfortably finish the whole 37.5 cl bottle - yet the complexity of the aroma makes up for that. Highly recommended if you are into this particular style and I am convinced this has a huge aging potential.

Oh man! This is so intense. Great hoppy aroma (citrus, tropical fruit and resin) mixed with some caramel nailed it! Awesome taste of sweet, barley wine mixed with some hops. 5 out of 5. No doubt at all.
