Taster at ei8htball - nose is a mix between cleaning product and mash. Sweet but not over the top sweet. Pine. Smooth. Boozy. A sipper even for a taster.

Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Looks good for the style; a cloudy pale burnt orange with very light caramel head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells bittersweet and malty with notes of caramel, toffee, and hops. Fuller-bodied on the nose. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

zenkis (1079) - Ogre, LATVIA - JUL 17, 2014
On nose it came a bit sour and vinegardy but flavor was oposite - sweet, caramely with light touch of hopping. Color was dark brown. Some honey like hints in flavor.

Very pleasant and enjoyable brew. Had two samples. One of them started with surprisingly almost acidic nose. Like sour ale. Thou taste definitely wasnt sour. Other one had very light hints of sourness in nose, but same taste as first. This one differs from typical barley wine with character of dried fruits and honey. Strong malt background, caramel, toffee, bit candy, decent hops for balance. Pleasant sweetness with bittersweet finish, feels quite oily. Huge brew!

37,5 cl, flaske, 12,5 % ABV, købt i Barley Wine i CPH City, 24. juni 2014. Mørk ravfarvet og ufiltreret dansk Barley Wine med lille fin skumkrone på 1/2-1/1 cm, offwhite-farvet. Orange nuancer i glasset.

38cl, new exclusive Danish brew Anno 2012, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex brew, malty/alcoholic/sweet and slightly spicy/fruity, yet not too heavy, balanced, hazy, rocky head, very good brew, yet expensive!

jookos (7042) - FINLAND - MAY 7, 2014
Bottle. Deep amber colour. Suprising fresh citrus, gooseberry, hoppy nose with bready malts, some huskyness. Full soft body, really nice texture. Some sweetness, but nice bitters. Light plummy malts. Soft. Nice. This isn’t really a traditional barley wine, more of a hoppy thing with BW-y malts.

Bottled. Orangeish pour. Sweet malt caramel yeast mustiness and citrus. Pretty good barleywine.

Bottle... Mostly-clear deep orange pour with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The nose is very subtle, but I am finally able to pull a restrained note of caramel and a medley of citrus fruits from the glass. Full-bodied and chewy with tingly carbonation. The flavor presents caramel and toffee flanked by a bittersweet finish and lengthy aftertaste. Bottle courtesy of Plovmand!
