GhostS (527) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - SEP 26, 2017

At a tasting, medium stable bubbly light off white head with some lacing, mud and roasted coffee aroma, quite aromatic with some licorice behind, same traits in flavor. Nice and interesting.

330ml bottle from El Irlandés. Pours a deep dark brown color with a big beige fluffy head that diminishes slowly and then stays forever. Aroma is malty with notes of caramel, wood, coffee, plums, milk chocolate, truffles and nuts. Varied and not necessarily melanoidin-based like a typical Bock style. Really nice and interesting. Taste is strong, intense with nutty, woody and light coffe-ish notes taking central role. The expected caramel appears only complementing the main flavors. Towards the end, a chocolatey finish shines for an instant. Not a true Doppelbock but I enjoy this a lot. Fantastic.
