Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Daniel. Pours deep brown with a creamy beige head. The nose has some roast, fusel alcohol, burnt wood. Medium sweet flavor with some bitter dark chocolate, oily dark fruits, earth. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with more cocoa, burnt wood, more dark fruits. Pretty decent. Bottle thanks to Dan. It pours jet brown with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, juicy, oily, apple brandy, sweet, syrupy, sticky and burnt rocky road. The taste is bitter-sweet, earth, charred wood, dirt, burnt sugar, rocky road, leather and ash with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Ok. Bottle, a direct purchase from BOE shop/warehouse, Spechey, Kings Lynn, consumed at home Sunday 4th January 2015 Pours black with creamy beige/tan head. A little treacle on nose and also in mouth, in fact more treacle than honey, a bit fresh and fruity but dark roastiness. Thick in mouth, there is a little nod towards Bracia, but only a cursory nod, believe me it’s good, but it isn’t half as good as Bracia. Drinks easier than it should but if truth be known I am a little underwhelmed, sad really as I rate these breweries very highly. pitch dark, smooth light brown head.
bitter roasted malts, flowery honey notes, also wood, booze. in general a solid, bitter malty stout with sweet notes but nowhere near too sweet. This is really very very good. flavor is bitter roasted malty, metal, flowey, slightly nutty, flavor appears a bit thin compared to aroma. aftertaste is boozy bitter. drsandman (1577) - New York, USA - NOV 6, 2014
Pours a dark deep brown/black, brown head with thin film. Aroma is roasted malt, sugar, bourbon, light honey, booze, silky milk chocolate. Flavor is sweet malt, boozy bourbon, caramel, coffee grounds, warm booze finish. Big and boozy beer, low carbonation, hot finish.... Not that smooth. 375ml bottle -
Big things come in small packages. The pour is pitch black, a rich mocha colored head rises up quickly and hangs around for a surprisingly long time. Aroma is chock-full of goodness. Bourbon, vanilla, brown sugar and scorched sugar. Hefty sweetness left behind on the palate supports the chocolate and bourbon in the beer, the vanilla and mocha flavors also are easily supported as well. Decadent. motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 25, 2014
on tap at mikkeller and friends, august 2013. almost black with a thin but steady beige head; aroma of vanilla ice cream and coffee grounds; light touch of woody honey sweetness with some chocolate mudcake and some warming bourbon in the finish
