Bottle sample shared by DrSilverworm from notes and sampled at Jungle Jims BA Beer Fest ’17 from notes mixed. Pours a hazy orange color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale crackery malts, light toast, grass, wood, light vinous character, hints of funk, their big barrel aged stouts usually are very interesting, but this didn’t do it for me.

hiddenvariable (211) - pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 5, 2016
pours a slightly cloudy but mostly clear copper-orange, with a moderate off-white head that lingers and laces well as it goes down. orange, grapefruit, citrusy nose, with a bit of the fruity vinousness of a dry white wine. taste is dry and even astringent, grapefruity again, with maybe some apples, pears, and white grapes mixed in. finish is again very dry, a tiny bit phenolic, with a light, bitter astringency. very very good on a hot day with a richly-flavored dinner.
