Taste is moderately sweet and quite fruity with medium boozy-cognac presence and a bit of roastiness. Full body. Moderate carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Chocolatey and cognac finish. Tasty, complex and decadent. oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 5, 2016
Big black beer. Nice aromas of bitter chocolate, coffee, and smoke/tobacco, with hints of whiskey. Doesn’t seem like 13% alcohol. Big flavor chocolate/espresso with a nice whiskey notes on the tail. nimbleprop (8761) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAR 27, 2016

330ml bottle from TLH Quick N Save Chevron
A rich dark pour that floods roasted chocolate and expands the nose after warming to coffee, hints of carmel and whiskey that gains throughout.
Very light foam tappering to lace around the glass.
A mouth full of oaky chocolate, sticky cacao nib textured with bitter chocolate/semi-sweet finish. Nothing short of exceptional.
Like milk from the Mother! Cheers... Desverger (12941) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 5, 2016

Bottle: Thanks Hackobock: Served in a Chouffe glass:
Black beer with a brown head.
Aromas of perfume, cognac, roast, wood, bay leaf, earthy, dark fruity, hints of peat and smoke...
Flavours of berries, some red fruit, roast, whiskey, earthy, wood, cognac, liquor, hint of lacto, coal, etc...
Aftertaste is bitter, roast, wood, whiskey, cognac...
Low carbo, light creamy mouthfeel, close to full bodied.
Strange, one time strong cognac other time you taste red and dark fruit, other time more earthy whiskey, but nonetheless a good beer. mikeyo1 (871) - Linköping, SWEDEN - FEB 20, 2016
bottle @ home. Aged 18 months. Pours a pitch black liquid with a long lasting, thick and creamy, brown colored head. Sweet and complex aroma with notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, dill(!), wood, dark bread, peat and some smoke, licorice and slightly vinous dates. Smooth yet sharply roasted taste with a full body. Taste of dark chocolate, vanilla, wood, peat, licorice, dark bread, toffee, spices. Dry, bitter finish with peat, some lactose, coffee and bitter chocolate lingering. Really good. johnnnniee (4408) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 22, 2016
Bottle from Santa, thanks for the opportunity!
Thick black liquid with a small off white head that slowly dissipates. Smoky vanilla oaky nose. Rich roasty chocolate with hints on toffee. Smokey roasty flavor with bits of roasty salty dark chocolate. Light warming alcohol notes. Very nice brew!
