UPDATED: JAN 18, 2018 This is a very good beer. At first their are many flavors that compete for your attention, but as the beer warms it establishes a tasty harmony. Overall, pretty nice.

On tap at burmondsay bottle shop. Black with a bit of a brown rim. Scent is generous pine qualities with a bit of ethanol. Taste is absolutely gorgeous caramel and malted ale with some brown sugar and further pine properties. Finish is warming and clear. Brilliant.

25cl bottle as Yule Mælk BA, yellow label oak BA. Pours black with a small tan head. Strong boozy aroma, woody, dried fruits, malts, chocolate. Taste is malty, sweet, acidic fruits, dried fruits, woody, chocolate, roast malt, warming, obviously very boozy but it works in this beer. Full bodied, average carbonation. A rich Christmassy beer, 25cl is certainly enough though especially if not sharing!

375 ml bottle with the red label which says "oak aged imperial sweet stout" so this is somewhat different from the description of this stout under the same name here (which may be applicable for the yellow label version as the red label supposedly is no longer in production). Appearance is an oily viscous opaque black, with a very generous head of dark tan froth, which recedes slowly, leaving sticky spidery lacing on the glass. Once it recedes, the froth cannot be regenerated with swirling the stout in the glass. Aroma is boozy, almost like bourbon, dark and milk chocolates, roasted malts, dried fruits like cherries and prunes, giving it a somewhat cloying sweetness to the nose. Taste is similar - this is a sipper, as there is no way the most complex of tastes can hide the 15% ABV which burns in the back of the mouth. Sticky, sweet chocolates mixed with dried fruits, over slightly bitter roasted malts. There is some coffee in there, I would vouch, just well hidden. Mouthfeel is oily smooth and creamy, full bodied, wicked brew!

Pours black as pitch. Large brown head that abates slowly. Nose is sweet cheese, mocha, Christmas pudding, some umami. Flavour comes from a full palate with no noticeable alcohol. Marzipan coated Christmas cake, sweetened black coffee and tannins. Nice, like a vintage port. Or an aged PX sherry. The finish lets this down. It's just insanely hoppy and little else. You could say it's an incredible affair that left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Pours black into a tulip. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Vanilla and chocolate aromas. Thick with sweet bourbon and vanilla upfront turning to hot espresso in the dry, lasting finish.

Uzupełnienie profilu notatki. Piana drobna beżowa, utrzymuje się długo, zdobi szło. Kolor czarny.

Pours black with low tan head. Aroma of mild peats, cedar wood, chocolate, light coffee, sweet barrels. Taste is sweet, boozy, chocolate, bit of muscovado and dried fruit, sticky sweet finish. Some lingering peats. Rich and creamy body with soft carbonation.

PotjeBier (3839) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - DEC 6, 2017
25 cl bottle @ home (as Yule Mælk BA). Black color. Brown head with reasonable retention. Aroma's: sweet, lactose, boozy, red fruit, sweet chocolate. Retronasal it's fruity, boozy (both from the sherry & cognac I'm assuming), lactose sweetness, milk chocolate. Flavor is moderate sweet, alcohol, some roasty bitterness. Fairly strong alcohol feel, warming. Medium bodied. Long finish resulting in a roasted bitterness.
