Draft sample. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted earthy hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid beer. 4oz on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Apparently this keg is pouring all foam, but they poured me a foam taster which soon settled to a nice ~2-3oz amount. Looks great after the foam settles, with good thicker khaki lace and whatnot. Brown red color. Earthy, herbal hop in the nose, and in the flavor, a lot of tropical fruity hop. Not as much black malt flavor as I’d like from a black IPA, but there is some caramel malt, some mild nuttiness. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Moderate zesty taste, moderate sweet, light bitter. An OK black IPA, not too into it. Nice galaxy hop aroma, but not much else going for it. imdownthepub (14546) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - AUG 17, 2014
Keg at The Canalhouse, Nottingham. Black with cream head. Black malts to the fore, charry, bitter, dry, black toast then a fruity pineapple type flavour as a counter balance. The burnt notes tend to dominate a little but overall pretty good. jtclockwork (16562) - , New Jersey, USA - AUG 11, 2014
Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan brown head. Overcarbonated. Nose/taste of roast chocolate, resin, dank grapefruit, citrus peel, grass, sugared orange peel and chocolate malt. Medium body.

Italian take on the new ’black IPA’ style, with Australian Galaxy hops. Very thick and creamy, beige, dense head, gushing; colour an inky black. Aroma of cold coffee, bitter chocolate, ashes, soy sauce, walnuts, sherry, minerals. Taste lightly sourish at first, only a very vague fruit sweetishness, strong carbonation as expected seen the gushing, deep bitter chocolatey and nutty maltiness, mouth-lining roasted bitterness, very coffee-like, as well as an assertive, peppery hops bitterness, long finish. In all, a very typical and well-made example of its style. yngwie (17049) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUL 27, 2014
Bottle, 75cl, at Melkebaren. It pours a big beige head over a very dark brown body. Some curtains. The aroma is lightly roasted, with a nice piney and fruity, faintly grassy hoppiness. Some Belgian style yeasty notes. It’s dry on the palate, with some malty sweetness. Pleasant carbonation level. Some licorice on the flavor, which is quite roasted, with a nice bitterness. Some dark chocolate and coffee, and some piney hops. Lasting bitter finish. Not your average Black IPA, but it’s nice anyway. Tasteful and moreish. 140727 Bov (12636) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUN 22, 2014
from Erzbierschof - hazy brown beer with persistent beige foam; nice lacework; toasted aroma of cookie, hazelnuts and coffee; pretty hoppy (mainly spicy); a good malt backbone, creamy palate, very bitter, earthy and toasted biscuity finish - tasty and hoppy, a good beer mkel07 (5949) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JUN 9, 2014
