Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, antique furniture - dark Victorian furniture (klunke mÃ¸bler) dried fruit, wood. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, old malt, dried fruit, wood, oak. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic.

Borefts Beer Festival 5. Day 2. Hazy amber beer, bubbly white head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Fine carbonation. A rich brew - nice toffee and Port Wine. Mild wood. Dried fruits, dates. Touch of alcohol spice. Semi dry finish. Nice fruity rich beer.

Bottle shared in London - sourced from the Kernel rotter. Pours clear ruby with a minimalist off-white head. Definitely some old wood in the nose, ripe berries, toffee. Medium to big sweet flavour with toasted caramel, booze, mild oxidation, vanilla, oily toffee, wood, faint leafy bitterness. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, with more ripe berries, thick toffee, caramel, hearty toasted bread, some orange peel. Quite robust, but also quite drinkable. Richly layered. Very good. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet berry fruit tang in the finale.
Very good barley wine affair.
