COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy orangey brown with a dense and creamy lacing head. Burned malt aroma with a distinct smokiness. Quite full-bodied with sweet roasted malts and fruit again with this distinct smokiness. Fairly bitter finish. 200908

Bottled@SBWF2008. Deep amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is caramel, fruity hops and some rather sweet maltyness. Flavour is bigtime hops and some really leathery notes. Mildly spicy notes too. Ends in a sweet fruity hoppyness. Very pleasant.

Gusgus (237) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - JUN 29, 2008
Draught @ the brewery. Dark amber with creamy head. A hint of phenols hits the nose at first, but dissipates and turn into a very nice herbal hoppiness with powerful notes of belgian strong ale from the use of 400 EBC Crystal. This leaves a note of burnt raisins and prunes. Clean palate with nice spicy hops over some bready malt. Very balanced and nice.

Bottle at Rover, Göteborg
It has a dark chestnut color, with a persistent layer of foam. It has a very nice aroma, of hop and dark chocolate, a bit cheesy. It has a good body strength; the flavor is based on dark caramel, roasted malt and chocolate, geting drier and more aggressive in its bitterness at the end, the bitterness coming from the roasted malt; it has also a light sourness from the same malt; quite unique and appreciated, it has a pleasant blue cheese touch in the late flavor. Maybe the roastiness is to much for me in the final, but all the rest is nice. Good and interesting.

Bottled at RBESG 2007. A hazy dark amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of spices, herbs, and caramel. The flavor is sweet malty and very spicy and herbal, leading to a dry finish which contains notes of citrus.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2007 On-tap at The Rover, Gothenburg. Brown/deep red color with a thick creamy pale brown head. Complex aroma and taste. Smells of hops, citrus, flowers, roasted malt, green apples, alcohol and smoke. Very hoppy taste with notes of grapefruits, roasted malt, apples, smoke, yeast and bread. A bit unbalanced maybe, but I like it.

Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 25, 2007
A large, spectacular off-white head covers the hazy copper pour. Interesting and original beer. It starts with a surprising barley sugar and rye-like cereal profile, at times nutty and chocolatey, at others spicey and akin to sour hay. This evolves into a smoked toffee intensity in mouth, but the striking feature, it’s a Olands after all, must be the huge bitter hop bite. Full on orangey, floral, piney onslaught. Immensely tasty, but never sessionable ale.

Bov (12636) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - OCT 1, 2007
courtesy of Per Forsgren/Samuelsson - cloudy copper-brown colour with a little irregular foam; hoppy and malty with nutty notes; a solid malt body with a robust bitterness; very long herbal and nutty finish - balanced and with lot of character; another very good beer from Ölands and the first with a decent alcohol content :-)
