UPDATED: DEC 15, 2017 Cask, Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Dark red brown with a beige head. Light roast malts with gritty chocolate. Red berries. Quite tangy. Lacks body. Decent but quite forgettable.

Bottle from Hopology this version was 4.9%. Mahogany colour with a foamy light tan head. Aroma is very light slight coffee and roasted malt. Taste light bitter. Medium body.

17th Aug 2017: cask half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates. Dark ruby body, beige topping. A little disappointed with this actually, weak coffee esters in the nose and even weaker coffee flavours in the taste. Slight red berry like notes in the background but I am glad I only had a half.

imdownthepub (15426) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 7, 2017
Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Festival ’17. Dark brown with cream head. Phew, this was a tart offering, sour plum flavours lead the way along with a sour cherry note. It never lets up, bordering on the undrinkable for me but struggled through it.

Cask. Aroma richly fruity and caramel notes. Pours dark chestnut with ruby lights and tan top, broken lacing. Taste is mellow with toffee and berry fruits which is not always the combination found in stout. The pub beer list described it as Silky. Having never drank silk I cannot judge. But it’s smooth enough. The best tollgate I’ve had.

RichTheVillan (8343) - Birmingham, West Midlands, ENGLAND - OCT 27, 2016
Cask at Birmingham Beer Festival 2016; dark chestnut brown pour with a thin tan head, aroma has red fruits and some roast, taste has light malts, some fruits.

Bottle - coffee, vanilla aroma. Dark and dense with thick tan head. Good mouthfeel - smooth. Coffee cream with a bitter finish - not a harsh Stout, enjoyed.

Rob_D_UK (1366) - Madrid, SPAIN - DEC 9, 2014
Very dark pour with an off white head. Quite a sweet roast pour. Taste is a light chocolate.

Good taste, bitter aftertaste, very smooth and good. Complex would recommend trying at least once, is also on day z. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
