Cask. Aroma nutty earthy malts. Pours an attractive copper with white lace wash. Taste has some toasted malts with a spicy nutty hop finish. On the board as a brown ale rather than a bitter but I suspect the cognoscenti would affirm its Bitter status. In that sense it looks good and lingers well.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tasted this in the Last Post, Paisley (JDW) in February 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale amber in colour with a thin creamy white head. Slight note of dusty hops in the short aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives a juicy fruit base with pink grapefruit and lychees. Slightly dry, grassy notes in the short bitter aftertaste. Finish is sweet and malty with strong fruit notes evident. A
decent session ESB.

Cask handpull at Crosse Keys JDW, London. Deep copper in colour with thin beige head. Earthy citric hop aroma. Good malts in mouth, which take on the darkish side. Finish crries on this grapefruit/lemon hop trend with a mix of choc. Never gets sweet though. Really accomplished bitter
