Great taste and alcohol content make this a must try. I didn't realize it was that strong until my sixth. Wrath (362) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - MAY 8, 2003
UPDATED: MAY 21, 2003 Dark in color. Taste of fruits and malts is nice. Well balanced for a fairly cheap beer. Alcohol is present but not overpowering for a 8.2. Nice bock! JCW (1278) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 20, 2003
Dark amber colored. Malty, very malty. I reminds me alot of Bells Consecrator Doppelbock. Taste alot of carmel. Its a good Doppelbock, very much in line with the style. foduck (330) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 8, 2003
UPDATED: APR 18, 2003 Very sticky sweet, strong. Doesn't compare well to most other doppelbocks but at the affordable price of $1 per bottle, I'm not complaining. Lacks complexity that I like in other bocks. Quite potent but can't taste the alcohol. redlem (1306) - Ohio, USA - MAR 4, 2003
Amber color with a light frothy light brown head. Initially an almost whiskey, soapy aroma. Very dry, with a good mix of malts flavor and fruits. The alcohol actually adds to the taste as opposed to dominating the beer. Can certainly feel the 8.2% going down.

Has the malty sweetness but is on the watery side. Alcohol hidden, quick finish. uhorpheus (215) - houston, Texas, USA - FEB 22, 2003
Decent doppelbock, but just doesnt quite fit in the same class as the Germans. Good, but just didn't have the richness I would expect. Uglyradio (791) - Greenville, South Carolina, USA - FEB 11, 2003
The first of three Doppelbocks I have lined up for this evening's tasting. This one pours a clear, deep reddish brown color with a small, rapidly dissipating off-white head. No lacings. The aroma wonderfully sweet with hints of caramel, banana, malts, and alcohol. Medium bodied and smooth with low carbonation, the flavor is malty sweet with a lingering banana bread and caramel finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Best of the Tommy Knocker brews I have tried so far... The aroma light of spice and sweet. The appearance is a lightly cloudy deep amber with a thin creamy head. The flavor is of bubble gum and spice and maybe just a faint hoppy aftertaste (the flavor is what sold me on this one). The beer is smooth and drinkable. Overall the best (yet) of a 6-pack sampler, not a bad D-Bock at all. hoorayforbeer (105) - Denton, Texas, USA - JAN 29, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2003 Deep orange/brown with little head. Smells fruity and a bit sweet. Spicy with definite caramel and maple flavors, along with some fruitiness. Not much malt presence, although the beer is quite sweet. Not bad overall, but a tad sweet.
