This award winning doppelbock (8.2% alcohol by volume) lager is brewed with a generous supply of Munich, carapils, caramel and chocolate malts and is fermented with Bavarian lager yeast. The resulting caramel sweetness and rich mouthfeel are complimented by the mild bittering of German Hallertau hops. 1997 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 14/20
Smoothsippin (49) - Minnesota, USA - MAY 4, 2013
Pours a cloudy brown with a nice beige head. Good malty sense on the nose. Can catch the malt and a slight sweetness into the mouth. Sweetness continues through the swallow followed by a pleasant bitterness and a little zip on the finish. Decent representative of the style, liked it. Would have again.

mjs (7778) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 26, 2017
(Keg at Tommyknocker Helsinki, 20170626) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and nearly white. Aroma had malts, caramel and lots of treacle. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramel, molasses, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, sweet and bitter. An excessively sweet bock.

Tide (4566) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 16, 2017
Draught at Tommiknocker Helsinki. Dark brown color, white head. Bitter taste with rye, a bit of roasted malts, nuts, bread and a bit of toffee. Bitter finish with rye, bread, toffee, nuts and bread. Decent brew, really tastes like rye bread.

rosenbergh (11957) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 4, 2017

Clear dark ruby red color with a tiny off-white head. Sweet sugar, syrup, malt and alcohol in the aroma. Super sweet malty and alcoholic flavor.

Backlog entry: Flight at the brewery. A nice selection, several IPAs. Good all-around. True to style.

djd07 (16317) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 5, 2016
On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy copper with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is toasted grain and caramel. Medium body, caramel, spice, grain, light finish, decent.

FatPhil (17334) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 9, 2016
355ml bottle (Kaisla, Helsinki)
Sweetish raisiny aroma, some woodiness, a bit tart and dry, dare I say it, even a bit sour (BB Aug 2018, drunk Jun 2016). Deep copper, brief head. Kinda watery palate, thinkened only with sugars, carbonation fairly pleasant. Somewhat milky taste - lacto about to kick in? Sweet caramelly malts, bit more raisin, with stalks for bitterness. Tastes a bit old and stale. I love bocks, but this is thin and in poor shape.

foyle (436) - North Carolina, USA - MAY 20, 2016
Served in pint glass from 12 oz bottle Appearance: Pours a 2" pillowy cream colored head that falls slowly with mild lacing. Color is cloudy copper-brown with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aroma: rich malt flavors of caramel, fresh bread, raisins and ripe fruit. Earthy and herbal hops. Mouthfeel: medium bodied and slightly astringent with a somewhat dry finish. Flavor: similar flavors to the aroma. The alcohol is (dangerously) well hidden in this beer. It does not drink like an 8.2% abv beer, but more like a session ale. Overall: a pleasing malt bomb. Recommended for anyone who enjoys malty brews.

oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 15, 2016
Pours a reddish brown. Sweet caramel/roasty aroma. Roast malt/chocolate flavor with a touch of fruit and great hops.

DocJitsu (2061) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - MAY 13, 2016
Pours heavily a cloudy brown-copper with a short, antique white head. Full sweetness with subdued tartness. Caramel with dried fruit.
